The Principal, Price Strategy and Analysis role is the focal point for leading the price setting for targeted D&B solutions and products. The team member will own the on-going development, creation and implementation of point of arrival pricing models, as well as participate in month close deal activities where needed. This role will be an individual contributor and ensure pricing models are current and up to date, conduct analysis on the impact of new or existing pricing models on revenue growth and margin. The role will act as a key business partner to other Finance team members as well as Product Managers that own the solutions to be priced.
Core Responsibilities
- Drive the cross-business collaboration and vision for price setting with key business partners.
- Ensure new and existing pricing models meet or exceed target margin established for business objectives.
- Conduct analysis and deliver results insight on the impact of new pricing, pricing initiatives and promotions.
- Deliver analytical insight on risks, issues, and opportunities for the organization.
- Work with business partners on product migration strategies that optimizes revenue through price while ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Work with the Deal Operations team to train and educate this team on new or adjusted pricing models that will be leveraged to structure deals.
- Provide pricing support including revenue by product analysis, first level support and research for all pricing questions during the close process, and the coordination of a quarterly auditing report (Fair Market Value).
- Manage and maintain current and legacy pricing rate cards to ensure proper controls are in place across the organization.
- Provide pricing support for all back-office system team members to ensure new or revised pricing models are integrated into systems thoroughly and accurately.
- Support the monthly financial close and forecasting processes by providing pricing information to finance team in such a way that is standard, simple, compliant, and timely.
- Build and maintain pricing tools and calculators to support new and existing pricing initiatives, globally.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting or Marketing.
- 4-5 years of price setting/strategy experience focused on providing strategic direction for the business.
- Experience and familiarity in the Deal structuring arena with focus on closing in month business.
- Familiarity of SOX pricing and revenue recognition rules and Fair Market Value (FMV) reporting requirements preferred.
- Working knowledge of commercial Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) and Configure, Price, Quote (CPQ) systems.
- Highly Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau or similar software.
- Strong analytical skills required to synthesize large quantities of data, identify trends and drivers, and distill them into insightful analysis for the business.
- Demonstrated creative thinking, problem solving and organization skills.
- Ability to deep-dive into financial data, reconcile variances and develop qualitative explanations to concisely summarize the results of financial analysis.
- Solid business judgement, strong critical thinking and analytical ability to create and determine recommendations and make decisions.
- Quick learner and problem solver who can deliver innovative ideas and approaches when faced with new issues or challenges.
- Strong interpersonal skills, team-work oriented and ability to work successfully in a matrixed, highly collaborative and fast paced work environment.
