The Principal Strategic Planning Analyst serves as a technical analytics resource supporting strategic planning and decision-making. The role acquires, integrates, validates, models, and maintains claims, demographic, state, and other key datasets while ensuring data integrity. Partners with the Sr. BI Developer and cross-functional teams to develop dashboards, reporting solutions, data models, analytical tools, and automated processes. Supports scalable analytics capabilities and the continuous enhancement of enterprise strategic planning data assets.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education

• Required - Bachelor's in computer science, management information systems (MIS), business, data analytics, or related field.
• Preferred - Master's in Health Administration (MHA), business administration (MBA), data analytics (MSDA), or related field.

Work Experience

• Required - 5 years of progressive experience in a business intelligence (BI) role. or
• Required - 3 years of progressive experience in a BI role with a master’s degree in computer science or related field. and
• Required - 3 years experience in coding (SQL, Python), AI/ML (PyTorch, TensorFlow), and data warehouse management (Snowflake, Databricks, etc.) and
• Preferred - 3 years experience as a business analyst, using SQL for daily tasks, creating reports and visualization using OBIEE, Tableau, Crystal. and
• Preferred - 3 years experience working in healthcare.
• Preferred - 1 year in data analytics, claims analytics, and enterprise project management, or oncology data analytics

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

• Advanced knowledge of database structures, data management, data integration, and business intelligence principles.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts.
• Experience with Power BI, Sigma, Tableau, or similar reporting and visualization platforms.
• Experience with Python, R, or other analytical programming languages preferred.
• Knowledge of data extraction, transformation, automation, and workflow optimization techniques.
• Understanding of data warehouse concepts, data governance practices, and data quality management.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot data issues, reporting discrepancies, and system integration challenges.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and documentation.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
• Experience working with healthcare claims data, demographic data, market intelligence platforms, and operational datasets preferred.

Job Duties

• Partners with the Strategic Planning Analytics and Insights team and leadership to define data, reporting, modeling, and technical analytics requirements.
• Collaborates with the Sr. BI Developer and enterprise analytics teams to develop and maintain reporting, dashboards, and analytical solutions supporting strategic planning initiatives.
• Acquires, integrates, and maintains data from multiple sources, including claims, demographics, provider, region, and service line datasets.
• Develops complex datasets, reporting tables, data models, and analytical files used for service line, region, and growth analyses.
• Performs data quality reviews, validation processes, and exception monitoring to ensure the accuracy and reliability of analytical outputs.
• Documents data sources, business rules, methodologies, calculations, and reporting processes in accordance with departmental standards.
• Monitors production reporting processes and data refresh schedules; investigates and resolves data or reporting issues and escalates as appropriate.
• Supports forecasting, demand modeling, utilization modeling, and other analytical methodologies through data preparation and model maintenance.
• Assists in the evaluation, implementation, and optimization of analytics tools, databases, and reporting technologies used by the Strategic Planning Analytics team.
• Provides technical support and subject matter expertise regarding strategic planning data assets, reporting tools, and analytical processes.
• Maintains current knowledge of healthcare data, analytics technologies, business intelligence tools, and industry best practices.
• Performs other duties as assigned
