Northrop Grumman, Defense Systems, is seeking a Principal / Sr. Principal Software Engineer to work on the Whisper programs in Stafford, Virginia. The Whisper program is a large Antenna based Rf Transmission and receiving network Platform. We use command and control software to remotely control multiple systems worldwide
Responsibilities :
Perform software development and maintenance
Assist with all or part of the following: requirements: application design, code development, testing, code maintenance.
Basic Qualifications:
This position is open as a dual level opportunity. We will consider candidates at a level 3 or level 4:
Based on your overall experience, education, years of experience, fit to the position, and interview evaluation will determine which level you are selected for.
- Level 3 bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience OR a master’s and 3 years’ experience OR a High School diploma / equivalent with 9 years’ experience may be considered in lieu of degree
- Level 4: Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience OR a master’s and 6 years’ experience OR a High School diploma / equivalent with 12 years’ experience may be considered in lieu of degree
- Work on-site at Stafford Virginia
- Programming experience with languages such as Java, C , bash, python.
- Familiar with Windows and RHEL
- TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain a CI polygraph
- Prior to start obtain a (IAT) level II or higher (i.e. Security +) .
- Familiar with Compliance/Vulnerability Monitoring with tools such as Nessus, HBSS and ACAS
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with the following technologies: Java Swing; multi-threaded and distributed Java applications; Java Web application (e.g., Tomcat) servers or Java Applications servers (e.g. JBoss and/or Wildfly are highly desired); relational databases (JDBC, SQL, and MySQL); JEE (Java Enterprise Edition) experience (JDBC, JNI, JNDI, JMS, Servlet/JSP, EJB/JPA); Web service experience (e.g., RESTFul Web services)
- Knowledge of the following: Hycu backup/recovery software or other backup/recovery software; Nutanix virtual environment, or other platforms such as VMWare; Elastic Search Stack (ELK);
- Web (Brower based) GUI front end development (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Angular)
- Experience with hardening Linux OS and applications to required configurations (e.g. DISA STIGs)
- Configuration Management experience working with software version control tools (Jira’s Bamboo, Stash, GIT, Subversion)
- Risk Management Framework (RMF)
- Linux and / or Windows system administration experience
Skills Required
- Meet Level 3 or Level 4 education/experience combinations (Level 3: Bachelor's +5 years or Master's +3 years or HS +9 years; Level 4: Bachelor's +8 years or Master's +6 years or HS +12 years).
- Work on-site at Stafford, Virginia.
- Programming experience with Java, C, Bash, and Python.
- Familiarity with Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
- Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain a CI polygraph.
- Obtain IAT Level II or higher prior to start (e.g., Security+).
- Familiarity with compliance/vulnerability monitoring tools such as Nessus, HBSS, and ACAS.
- U.S. Citizenship (required for positions with government clearance).
- Experience performing software development, testing, and maintenance for mission/command-and-control systems.
- Ability to meet travel requirement (~10%).
- Experience with system hardening and compliance frameworks (DISA STIGs, RMF) and Linux/Windows administration.
- Experience with Java web/app servers (Tomcat, JBoss/Wildfly), Java EE technologies, JDBC/SQL/MySQL, RESTful services, and multi-threaded Java applications.
- Experience with web frontend development (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Angular).
