Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer – Level 3 or Level 4 to join our team in Redondo Beach, CA. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.
You will have the opportunity to design, develop, and execute test procedures and automated test scripts using spacecraft commands, telemetry, and electrical ground support equipment. The ideal candidate has system level test experience working with spacecraft flight hardware and good computer skills. Daily responsibilities will require I&T test preparation leading to direct contact with satellite and space flight hardware.
In this job, you will:
Develop I&T test procedures, specifications, and test limits
Execute I&T testing, monitor tests per specification, troubleshoot, and document all test activities
Understands both electrical circuits and software within the flight hardware and EGSE
Supports EGSE and flight hardware test/troubleshooting efforts and ability to perform this tasking with little to no oversight from another Electrical Engineer
Travel and support different shifts when required
Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of increasing scope and complexity as assigned
Has technical insight and experience to know if test set-up and results make sense
Ability to establish and maintain infrequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts on routine matters.
Coordinates with ITEE team lead, electrical test conductors/technicians, and I&T managers to complete tasking. May participate, prepare, and present material in program review boards (ERBs, TRRs, FRBs, etc.).

This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.
This position can be filled at either a Level 3 or Level 4.
Basic Qualifications for Level 3:
Approved STEM Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of professional experience – OR – Approved STEM Master’s degree with 3 years of professional experience – OR – Approved STEM PhD with 1 year of professional experience.
Requires an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
Experience with hardware or software testing and test scripting
Travel and support different shifts when required
Basic Qualifications for Level 4:
Approved STEM Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of professional experience – OR – Approved STEM Master’s degree with 6 years of professional experience – OR – Approved STEM PhD with 4 years of professional experience.
Requires an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
Experience with hardware or software testing and test scripting
Travel and support different shifts when required
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with proliferated systems testing or production line testing/planning
Direct related experience in Integration and test
Experience in Electronics troubleshooting and nonconformance documentation and resolution workflow
Environmental test planning/preparations (Thermal Cycle/Thermal Vacuum chamber testing, EMI testing)
Programming or debugging experience with any of the following languages: STOL/JAS, Python
Programming or debugging experience with any of the following tools: Manufacturo, Odoo, InControl, Jira/Confluence, Git/Bitbucket
Experience in Aerospace or Defense industry (development or test)
Active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
