Northrop Grumman, Strategic Space Systems Division is seeking a Principal / Sr. Principal Data Scientist – Imagery to become a member of the software applications team, working as part of an integrated and globally disperse team. The position requires a flexible work schedule driven by system and operational requirements and is located at a field site in Fort Belvoir, VA.

This position can be filled at a level 3 or 4

Job Responsibilities:

Creates data mining architectures/models/protocols, statistical reporting, and data analysis methodologies to identify trends in large data sets. Analysis may have many applications such as to address a business issue or provide a competitive advantage for the organization. Requires strong statistical and data visualization skills.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM discipline plus 5 years’ experience working as an image scientist or imagery analyst; OR Master of Science Degree in a STEM discipline plus 3 years’ experience
  • Strong communicator and exited to work with customers across the community with sensitive needs.
  • Knowledge and experience working with electro-optical data sets.
  • Extensive knowledge of TCPED cycle
  • Capable of generating algorithms or scripts to address user needs.
  • Capable of developing SW and algorithms to prototype efforts of the advanced sciences team.
  • Technical degree (advanced degree preferred) in a technical discipline to support image science research and development.
  • Active, in scope DoD Top Secret Clearance / SCI Access with a counterintelligence.

Salary Range: $118,000.00 - $177,000.00Salary Range 2: $146,300.00 - $219,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
