About you:
You are a highly hands-on senior engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, improving platform performance and influencing technical direction within a collaborative product environment. You are passionate about modern engineering practices, scalable backend systems and building reliable, high-quality software.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role within a small and highly collaborative engineering team. We expect you to remain closely involved in technical implementation, architecture discussions, refactoring initiatives and engineering decision-making, while also providing technical guidance and support across the wider team.
Day-to-day, you will:
• Drive technical improvements across the platform, including performance optimisation, refactoring and modernisation initiatives.
• Contribute hands-on to backend development using Java/Kotlin and Spring technologies.
• Collaborate closely with backend engineers, QA, DevOps and product stakeholders to support technical delivery and platform stability.
• Influence architecture and engineering decisions while supporting best practices, code quality and long-term maintainability.
Your skills and experiences might also include:
• Strong commercial experience with Java and/or Kotlin in backend product environments.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, scalable systems and modern engineering practices.
• Experience with Spring Framework, microservices and relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Frontend exposure (React, Angular or similar) beneficial but not essential.
