Re:Build Manufacturing is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to set technical vision, elevate engineering excellence, and drive the development of scalable, high-impact software systems across our portfolio. In alignment with The Re:Build Way, this role combines deep hands-on technical leadership with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and long-term thinking.

As a hands-on architect and trusted technical leader, you will guide critical design decisions, mentor engineers at multiple levels, and partner closely with product and business stakeholders in a candid, collaborative manner. You will bring clarity to complex problems, balancing speed and innovation with reliability, security, and maintainability to ensure solutions are built to endure.

What you get to do

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our technology direction and delivering high-quality software systems that power Re:Build’s diverse engineering and manufacturing operations.

Technical Leadership & Architecture
  • Lead the design and architecture of complex, scalable, cloud-native systems
  • Make strategic decisions regarding tech stack, system design, performance, and reliability
  • Set and evolve the organization’s technical strategy, including evaluating emerging technologies and driving innovation
Engineering Excellence
  • Establish and uphold engineering standard processes for code quality, security, performance, and scalability
  • Conduct and mentor others through rigorous code reviews, design sessions, and technical deep-dives
  • Author high-quality technical documentation, design specs, and architecture diagrams
Hands-On Development
  • Develop and maintain high-quality, efficient, well-tested code for critically important components
  • Work across multiple languages and frameworks depending on project needs (primarily C#, React/JavaScript)
Cloud, DevOps, and Modern Architectures
  • Build and deploy modern applications using serverless and containerized AWS services, including Lambda, ECS/Fargate, DynamoDB, S3, API Gateway, and Step Functions
  • Design and deliver robust APIs (REST and GraphQL)
AI & Intelligent Systems Integration
  • Lead or contribute to efforts that incorporate AI/ML, generative AI, intelligent automation, and AI-assisted workflows
  • Experience or strong interest in tools such as OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, LangChain, or similar frameworks is a strong plus
Multi-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with product, operations, design, and manufacturing teams to deliver impactful solutions
  • Operate within and contribute to The Re:Build Way—a culture of continuous improvement, humility, and teamwork

What you bring to the Team

Experience & Core Technical Skills
  • 10+ years of software development experience, with deep expertise in cloud-based application development
  • Demonstrated experience designing high-performance, scalable architectures
  • Strong backend engineering expertise with C#, microservices, and distributed systems
  • Proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks (preferably React)
  • Extensive AWS experience including serverless architectures, containers, CI/CD pipelines, and modern cloud services
  • Experience with REST and GraphQL APIs
  • Solid foundation in algorithms, data structures, and core CS fundamentals
  • Awareness of security best practices: authentication, authorization, encryption, and compliance for cloud-native systems
  • Experience mentoring engineers and shaping engineering culture
  • Willingness to travel periodically
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
AI/ML & Automation (Preferred)
  • Experience or passion for integrating generative AI, LLMs, automation, or ML-driven solutions into production systems
  • Ability to lead the adoption of AI-enhanced workflows and developer productivity tools

 Requirements:  
  •  We are seeking candidates who currently reside in the Seattle, WA or Los Angeles, CA metropolitan areas.
  • This role requires quarterly travel to our downtown Los Angeles office. 

Compensation Expectations: Base salary range $130 to $260K, depending on candidate experience. Additionally, you will have an annual cash bonus and long term incentive.
