Role Overview:
ABBYY is seeking a Principal Software Engineer with strong hands-on experience in C++ (mandatory), C#,
any front end technologies, and Azure to lead the end-to-end development of high-quality, scalable, and
modern software solutions. You will play a key role in driving technical excellence, mentoring engineers, and
influencing architecture and design decisions across the product.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership: Drive architecture, design, and development of mission-critical systems using C++, C#, any front-end technologies, and Azure. Provide guidance and mentorship to engineers across the team.
- End-to-End Ownership: Take full ownership of feature lifecycles—design, development, testing, deployment, and support—ensuring quality and scalability.
- Hands-on Development: Be deeply involved in coding, especially in C++, and contribute to complex backend and frontend features across the stack.
- Code Quality and Best Practices: Champion Test-Driven Development (TDD), clean coding, and modern software engineering practices. Lead code reviews and enforce high standards.
- System Reliability and Monitoring: Ensure the availability and performance of production systems. Drive the resolution of issues with minimal downtime.
- DevOps and CI/CD: Leverage GitHub for version control and participate in continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, and engineering leadership to align business goals with technical deliverables.
- Innovation & Technical Direction: Evaluate and introduce new tools, technologies, and methodologies that improve software quality, performance, and developer productivity.
Required Qualifications:
- 10–13 years of professional experience in software development with a strong focus on C++ (must-have) and C#.
- Proficiency in front-end technologies including any front end technologies (React.js, Angular.js, NPM, Webpack, etc.)
- Experience with Microsoft Azure services and cloud-native application development.
- Strong expertise in SQL Server for designing and optimizing relational databases.
- Hands-on experience with GitHub and modern CI/CD practices.
- Solid understanding of TDD, unit testing frameworks, and automated testing strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to design scalable, maintainable, and high-performance software solutions.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
