Xometry is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join our quoting & pricing organization. As an individual contributor, you will guide software design for a group of approximately 25 engineers. You will report to and assist the vice president of engineering to guide our technology solutions to ensure that we continue to build reliable, high-performance, usable, and secure solutions while solving complex business problems.
Responsibilities:
- Hands-On Technical Leadership: Adopt a 'lead by example' approach by actively coding and troubleshooting.
- Teaching & Mentorship: You will serve as a mentor and guide to engineers across the organization, teaching and mentoring them to grow their skills.Code Review: You will do code review and mentor others within the organization to perform good code reviews.
- Operational Excellence: Guarantee the delivery of superior software that not only meets but exceeds customer expectations, while aligning with the strategic business timelines.
- Collaborative Strategy: Forge strong partnerships with product managers, designers, and company leadership to promote a culture of open communication and integrated team dynamics.
- Guide Innovation: Champion the adoption of cutting-edge technologies, methodologies, and practices to enhance problem-solving efficiency and effectiveness across the organization.
Qualifications:
- At least 8 years of experience in software development, in a fast-paced, product-driven environment.
- Experience with a marketplace product is highly desired.
- Strong technical expertise. You will need to either have or quickly build technical expertise in the following:
- REST API design and implementation
- Python
- Frontend web technologies including HTML/DOM/CSS, React, and Typescript.
- Cloud hosting services, especially AWS
- Containerization technologies (Docker and Kubernetes)
- Rust
- Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, from executives to product managers and a wide variety of stakeholders and contributors
- Excellent leadership, execution, and communication skills
- A US person (citizen or green card holder)
