Job Overview:
The Principal Software Engineer is a part of our Product and Engineering team who are at the forefront of keeping our customers safe from attacks and breaches. In this role you will be focussed on helping our customers seamlessly manage their security solutions as effectively and efficiently as possible, and ensuring our products are delivering a secure experience. You will be working on a high impact and cross-functional team, creating end-to-end security solutions that drive customer success. You will have the opportunity to further enhance your skills surrounded by a team of incredibly smart and experienced Engineers, whilst mentoring others.
Requirements:

  • A minimum of 10 years experience in software development using Java or other equivalent programming languages
  • Excited by technology, curious and eager to learn, with the ability to mentor more junior members of the team
  • The attitude and ability to thrive in a high-growth, evolving environment
  • Collaborative team player and leader who has the ability to partner with others and drive toward solutions
  • Strong creative problem solving skills
  • Solid communicator with excellent written and verbal communications skills both within the team, cross functionally, and across Rapid7 locations around the world
  • Passionate about delighting customers, puts the customer needs at the forefront of all decision making
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering complex solutions to customers
  • Demonstrable experience of instigating continuous delivery and continuous integration patterns
  • At least 5 years experience designing large-scale, realtime cloud-based products and systems


Responsibilities:

  • Architect, build, maintain, release, and support well architected services by writing correct and clean code consistently, following best practices and conventions in design, implementation, test, and service operation. You will be recognized across teams for leading in writing maintainable, stable, and well-architected code
  • Be involved in driving the design and planning of upcoming features and architectural initiatives. Our engineers are first class stakeholders in all parts of the development process
  • Partner with internal teams such as UX and Product Management who work deeply with our product to ensure we are understanding our customers needs
  • Deeply understand our products and make high impact decisions to support our customers
  • Work with technologies including Spring, AWS, microservices, DynamoDB, Cassandra, MySQL, Redis, etc.
