Citizens Financial Group, Inc. (CFG) seeks a Principal Software Engineer for its Phoenix, Arizona location.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the end-to-end design of observability solutions that encompasses the hosting infra, applications, network, databases etc.
• Evaluate emerging products by conducting research and proof of concepts and provide strategic recommendations for adoption.
• Guide solution architect and technical team in implementing architecture blueprints and roadmaps.
• Architect and lead the engineering teams to implement the Observability pipelines and unified observability solutions using cutting edge commercial and open source tools, products and in-house applications/services.
• Architect and implement AIOps based solutions to drive enterprise initiative of reducing MTTR(Mean Time To Resolve) and MTTD(Mean Time To Detect) in order to avoid brand impact due to system outages.
• Planning and executing highly parallel distributed object storage transformations and migrations.
• Lead vendor governance and performance management, ensuring external technology partners deliver scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions aligned with business objectives.
• Lead collaborative projects with small software engineering teams.
• Develop automation, processes, and tools designed to make services simpler and more robust.
• Advise management on service onboarding strategies and execution.
• Serve as a key liaison between various stakeholders, including executive leadership, Cloud Engineering and SRE teams and platform teams.
• Build and lead high-performing, multicultural team across geographies, fostering collaboration and inclusive leadership.
• Lead and manage a team of professionals, providing direction, support, and performance feedback to ensure individual and team success.
• Coach and manage team members, supporting career development and skill-building.
Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Engineering, or related field and 7 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience as Principal Software Engineer, Application Architect, Technical Architect, Consultant, Computer System Engineer, or a related position developing and designing software solutions.
Must have 7 years of experience with:
• Implementing mainframe modernization initiatives using distributed architectures tailored for large scale and high performance;
• Conceiving and crafting core banking solutions for financial institutions;
• Utilization of Microservices Architecture to facilitate the development of loosely coupled, independently deployable services, including related patterns CQRS, Event Sourcing and Domain Driven Design (DDD) for building scalable and resilient systems;
• Working with container technologies, including Docker, and container orchestration platforms, including Kubernetes, openshift and Rancher, enabling efficient management of containerized applications;
• Designing and implementing distributed architectures spanning multiple middleware layers; and
• Utilizing advanced analytics, profiling and monitoring tools, including Java Mission Control(JMC), Java Flight Recorder(JFR), JProfiler, and VisualVM to monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot application performance.
Must also have experience with:
• Working with cloud platforms, including Next-gen technology transformation, using ROSA (Redhat Openshift Service on AWS), EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service) and AWS platform & services to enable cloud compliant, secure and highly available solutions;
• Utilizing emerging programming languages and frameworks, including Java, Springboot, JAX-RS, Jersey, Spring SOAP, Apache Camel, Spring Integration, Spring batch, Spring transaction, Spring MVC, and Spring WebFlux to build; and
• Designing and implementing Machine Learning engines based on machine learning algorithms K-Means and T-Digest to identify and report data outliers.
Telecommuting permitted 1 day per week.
