As a Principal Software Engineer on the Virtual Products Growth team, you will help drive a healthy and ever-growing creator economy at Roblox. Our mission is to create new revenue streams for our creators and support their quest in building delightful experiences on top of our platform.
We are looking for someone who can work with product managers and data science on end-to-end requirements to develop and maintain a scalable, secure, and reliable platform for our creators to thrive. As we are responsible for a large portion of the company’s revenue, you will drive projects with high impact and visibility.
You will:
- Lead projects with the highest economic impact and visibility.
- Work cross-functionally with product managers, data scientists, and designers to identify growth opportunities, and translate them into requirements and roadmaps.
- Drive engineering solutions that scale to billions of products and transactions in a reliable and secure manner.
- Mentor and help recruit future talent for the team.
You Have:
- 8+ years of experience successfully shipping multiple products, with 2+ years acting as a tech lead.
- Experience with front end technologies and frameworks.
- Expertise with back end technologies – building and supporting large scale, distributed systems.
- A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent professional experience) in Computer Science

The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page.
Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
