Position Description:
Builds and provides high-quality, end-to-end software solutions by using server-side technology tools -- Java EE. Participates in process-improvement initiatives to maximize team velocity, using Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools -- JIRA and Version One. Designs software capabilities for data analysis, using SQL. Creates and improves User Interface (UI) components for Web applications in a dynamic environment. Implements process improvements within an Agile Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) environment and by utilizing its corresponding SCRUM activities -- backlog grooming, planning sessions, daily scrums, and retrospectives. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Participates in architecture design teams.
- Defines and implements application-level architecture.
- Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
- Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
- Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
- Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
- Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
- Responsible for meeting project goals on time and on budget.
- Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
- Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
- Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
- Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
- Advises senior management on technical strategy.
- Mentors junior team members.
- Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
- Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) providing technical support for Java and Spring Boot–based microservices architecture and RESTful Application Programming Interface (API) integrations.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) providing technical support for Java and Spring Boot–based microservices architecture and RESTful Application Programming Interface (API) integrations.

- Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) driving software design and delivery by contributing to the full SDLC, from requirements analysis and architectural design to development, testing, and deployment, using Agile methodologies while ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performance enterprise-grade solutions.
- DE designing and developing Java and Spring Boot-based microservices and RESTful APIs, using cloud technologies Elastic Container Service (ECS) and Lambda to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance enterprise applications.
- DE designing and implementing secure authentication and authorization frameworks using Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML), OAuth, and OpenID Connect (OIDC), and integrating with API Gateway platforms (Apigee) to manage and secure microservices.
- DE implementing Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines with Jenkins to automate build and deployment processes; conducting performance tuning and optimization using centralized caching tools (Redis); and implementing automated testing frameworks using Junit and Cucumber to deliver robust, high-quality, and bug free applications across microservices and API layers.
