Provides recommendations for Kubernetes configurations, advocating industry best practices to enhance scalability, security, and resource efficiency. Suggests optimizations for cluster management, deployment strategies, and workload balancing, resulting in improved system resilience and reduced operational overhead. Implements fine-tuned memory and CPU configurations, reducing unplanned downtime and improving application performance under heavy load in production. Automates dashboard and monitor creation using Terraform, ensuring consistency, scalability, and infrastructure management across Cloud environments. Automates the creation of Datadog resources, including alert monitors, synthetic tests, log-based metrics, and AWS resources -- EC2 instances, VPC, and other AWS resources using Terraform. Implements continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using Jenkins, automating software delivery processes and reducing time-to-market for new features. Establishes proactive monitoring and alerting for infrastructure and application metrics using Datadog (Cloud apps) and ELK stack (On-prime apps), enabling rapid response to performance degradation or capacity issues. Participates in post-incident reviews (PIRs) and blameless retrospectives, identifying actionable improvements to prevent the recurrence of incidents and enhance system reliability. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Participates in architecture design teams.
- Defines and implements application-level architecture.
- Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
- Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
- Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
- Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
- Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
- Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
- Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
- Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
- Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
- Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
- Advises senior management on technical strategy.
- Mentors junior team members.
- Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
- Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) providing technical support and production support of JAVA and Web based applications.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) providing technical support and production support of JAVA and Web based applications.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
- Demonstrated Expertise (DE) performing DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) by managing Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines; automating build, test, and deployment processes, using GitHub, Jenkins, Maven, SonarQube, Artifactory, and Kubernetes; supporting Cloud infrastructure provisioning and configuration, using Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation; and implementing monitoring and logging solutions for performance and availability, using Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, and CloudWatch.
- DE troubleshooting and resolving technical issues (diagnosing problems, implementing workarounds, and finding root cause analysis), using Python, Shell Scripting, GIT, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud.
- DE monitoring and maintaining applications and infrastructure using search and analytics platforms (ELK, Datadog, and Grafana); administering operating systems (Linux, Windows, and VMware), Oracle Databases, and Cloud technologies (AWS and Kubernetes); and developing tools to enhance platform creation and maintenance, using Jenkins, Python, and SQL.
- DE supporting Java-based applications and Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) infrastructure by analyzing and debugging Java thread/heap dumps (to resolve performance bottlenecks), using JConsole, VisualVM, and Eclipse MAT; automating operational tasks using Python, Shell Scripting, and SQL optimization; and ensuring high application reliability and continuity through proactive monitoring, incident triaging, and problem management, using ServiceNow, Salesforce, and Jira.
