Position Description:
Provides software application and system environment support to business and systems development teams, using Java technologies, Light Weight Container (LWC), and Docker containers running on NodeJS, Envoy, Nginix, Apache, Tomcat application servers, Oracle, DynamoDB, Amazon Aurora, and SQL. Develops, implements, and support solutions using Git Repository, Stash, Jenkins Core, and Kubernetes. Coordinates Amazon Elastic Kubernetes (EKS) Service platforms using Amazon Web Services (AWS). Patches, upgrades, and applies bug fixes to platforms. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Participates in architecture design teams.
- Defines and implements application-level architecture.
- Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
- Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
- Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
- Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
- Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
- Responsible for meeting project goals on time and on-budget.
- Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
- Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
- Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
- Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
- Advises senior management on technical strategy.
- Mentors junior team members.
- Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
- Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) providing operational support for large-scale financial corporations using VMware, Openstack, and AWS.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field(or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) providing operational support for large-scale financial corporations using VMware, Openstack, and AWS.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
- Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) maintaining Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment pipelines (CI/CD) for Cloud, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML), and API applications using Jenkins build tools; and coordinating nodes and clusters using Kubernetes platforms.
- DE solutioning, designing, architecting, and building scalable and resilient software solutions according to DevOps practices, using Java, Python, Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS; and modernizing solutions and creating Cloud-based, micro-service, and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) built on Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), and Amazon Elastic container service for EKS AWS infrastructure services.
- DE leading large, application migration efforts from ECS to EKS -- application configurations related to stability, resiliency, performance, ownership and administration of large scale ECS, EKS and hybrid on-prem and cloud platforms including management of monitoring, observability, capacity, and performance management.
- DE leading outage incident engagements in a large financial institution with multi-layered microservices/API architecture hosted on on-prem and cloud Kubernetes and hybrid platforms.
