Position Description: 

 

Architects and designs complex, scalable, and secure software solutions, setting technical direction for major initiatives and ensuring alignment with enterprise standards. Drives innovation in test automation and software development strategies, introducing advanced frameworks and tools to improve quality and efficiency. Designs, implements, and delivers complex features, and contributes to architecture discussions for components or services. Conducts high-level design reviews and critical code reviews, and sets coding standards and enforces them across teams. Ensures development and designs meet scalability, reliability, security, and performance requirements. Provides technical leadership in the development and integration of APIs and cloud-based services, ensuring robust security, performance, and reliability in distributed environments. Guides the implementation of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices at scale, optimizing automation for multi-team code integration and deployment. Proactively identifies risks and develops mitigation strategies for enterprise-level systems, ensuring compliance with scalability, reliability, and security requirements. Conducts critical code reviews and performance assessments, ensuring maintainability and adherence to architectural principles. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management. 

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

 

  • Participates in architecture design teams.  

  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.  

  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.  

  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.  

  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.  

  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.  

  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.  

  • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.  

  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.  

  • Plans and coordinates complex project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.  

  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.  

  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.  

  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.  

  • Mentors junior team members.  

  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects sup-porting several divisional initiatives.   

  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts. 

 

Education and Experience: 

 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing software/test automation using Java, J2EE, Cucumber Serenity, or Selenium automation frameworks. 

 

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing software/test automation using Java, J2EE, Cucumber Serenity, or Selenium automation frameworks. 

 

Skills and Knowledge: 

 

Candidate must also possess: 

  • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing and building enterprise applications within a financial services environment, using APIs and RESTful services; and adapting Spring boot micro-service architecture within large-scale services systems with Agile methodologies, using Java 8+ and J2EE technologies – Spring Boot, Maven, AWS Batch, Kubernetes, Oracle PL/SQL and Kafka. 

  • DE building test automation frameworks, using Java and J2EE; developing automated test scripts, using Cucumber Serenity, Selenium automation frameworks, JEST, and Amazon Web Services (AWS); and performing Web service testing, using RestAssured, ReadyAPI or Karate. 

  • DE performing DevSecOps, automated testing, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), using Concourse and Jenkins. 

  • DE performing production installs, solving production issues, and supporting Production Apps -- monitoring Logs using Datadog, and validating Production install.

Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues.
