Position Description:
Develops Cloud data storage and access using Snowflake/S3. Develops and implements Amazon Web Services (AWS) services (EMR, EC2, and Cloud formation), ETL tools and data warehouse concepts. Programs software applications and databases using Python, RDBMS, SQL, and PL/SQL. Architects, develops, and maintains high quality data platforms. Builds solutions using Python. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Participates in architecture design teams.
- Defines and implements application-level architecture.
- Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
- Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
- Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
- Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
- Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
- Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
- Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
- Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
- Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
- Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
- Advises senior management on technical strategy.
- Mentors junior team members.
- Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
- Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, and supporting complex web applications with RESTful services in cloud (AWS or Azure) and on-premise environments, using Java, JavaScript, and Spring.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, and supporting complex web applications with RESTful services in cloud (AWS or Azure) and on-premise environments, using Java, JavaScript, and Spring.

- Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) performing Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and developing middle-tier multi-threaded applications using web services technologies (RESTful Web services), Java, Spring Boot, and Oracle SQL; and performing Application Programming Interface (API) design using Swagger following microservices design patterns.
- DE designing, developing, and maintaining internal and customer facing web applications and services using HTML, JavaScript, and IntelliJ; implementing complex User Interface (UI) design and responsive web design using modern web application development; and designing wireframes to illustrate the solutions for web applications using Figma.
- DE designing and developing web applications on AWS platform using Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) and Elastic Compute Services (EC2); and creating AWS Lambda functions using Java or Python.
- DE deploying and providing technical support to web applications using DevOps CI tools -- Jenkins, Maven, GIT, Apache Tomcat, and IDE toolset (IntelliJ); performing configuration management using GIT stash; performing Test-Driven Development (TDD) using JUnit; and validating code quality and application security using Sonar.
