We're offering the role at Director level
With a fine blend of hands-on and hands-off engineering, you’ll provide thought leadership, coordinate, support and guide your teams to design and engineer software that is customer centric, high performing, secure and robust. And with a sharp focus on opportunities for automation, you’ll continually create efficiency by exploring and anticipating the impact of strategic challenges, and developing the proposed strategy, architecture and roadmap to drive them forward
You’ll also be responsible for:
Developing and executing a cohesive strategy that aligns product, design and business priorities, and converting these into technological solutions
Empowering and enabling your teams to grow by facilitating discussions, sharing insights, driving collaboration, and guiding the direction of work
Working with software engineers to prototype innovative ideas, and engaging with our architects to validate and leverage them across the bank
Developing design patterns, advocating our design principles and methodologies, and signposting the latest trends, technologies and tools
Enhancing our software engineering capability and inspiring our community of engineers to fulfil their potential by facilitating internal mobility, shaping career paths and coaching talent
As a senior principal engineer, you’ll bring a wealth of practical experience and technical knowledge to this role. From knowledge of the commercial lending domain, our applications, interfaces, services and platforms, to hands-on experience developing and implementing deployment patterns, application tooling and legacy and industry-leading technologies, you’ll have the knowledge, skills and insights to support and guide your teams to engineer innovative, value-adding solutions.
And, by harnessing your ability to engage and rally people around a tech cause, you’ll enable success at both a team and executive level and make a long-lasting impact through your work.
You'll demonstrate:
Excellent leadership and management skills
Significant experience of leading software development teams, executing strategies and implementing programming best practice
Significant experience within the commercial lending domain
Expertise in multiple high-level programming languages
Experience in large scale transformative programme execution
Experience in Cloud native solutions and CI/CD practices
Experience in AI based solutions
Great interpersonal and relationship building skills
Good communication skills, bold and assertive
Significant experience in translating and communicating complex technical subjects in a simple manner to senior leadership of the bank
