The RoleAspenTech, a global leader in software solutions for optimizing process manufacturing across various industries including oil and gas, petroleum, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals, is seeking a talented Software Developer to join our Advanced Process Control and Dynamic Optimization R&D Group in Houston.In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting and enhancing our industry leading advanced control (DMC3) and dynamic optimization (GDOT) products, utilizing cutting edge software tools, AI, and advanced modeling and optimization technologies.

- Primarily focus on designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting DMC3/GDOT products.
- Analyze customer requirements and translate them into product features and use cases.
- Deliver innovative solutions to enhance our products, ensuring they provide better value for our customers with a focus on simplicity in deployment and maintenance.
- Secure application design to ensure products adhere to modern software security and access‑control standards.
- Leverage AI‑assisted development tools for coding, troubleshooting, refactoring, and generating unit tests to improve efficiency and code quality.
- Collaborate with other teams to identify synergies among AspenTech’s extensive range of products.
- Work collaboratively with the extended team in Product Management, Customer Support, and Quality Assurance to ensure a successful product release and seamless customer adoption.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related fields with 10+ years of working experience.
- Proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying scalable web applications across the full software development lifecycle.
- Proficiency with Microsoft web application technologies, including ASP.NET Core, ASP.NET MVC/Web API, ASP.NET Web Forms, and Classic ASP.
- Strong experience with C# (.NET).
- Knowledge of software security principles, including authentication, authorization, and access‑control models.
- Experience writing SQL queries and managing data using SQL is a plus.
- Familiarity with unit testing frameworks.
- Experience with third‑party UI controls or frameworks such Angular, React, or DevExpress is a plus.
- Experience with Javascipt, Typescript, C++ is a plus.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools for coding, troubleshooting, refactoring, and generating unit tests.
- Strong problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentation abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
- Experience in software project management is a plus.
