Role Overview
We are looking for a Technical Lead - Cloud Engineer to act as the technical subject matter expert for reliability and DevOps practices across our fintech platform.
This role is a pure individual contributor position where you will remain deeply hands‑on while also guiding, mentoring, influencing, and delegating work within a small SRE team (3 to 6 engineers). You will lead by example through active involvement in automation, production operations, and reliability engineering.
The ideal candidate is highly technical, thrives in high‑availability and transaction‑heavy environments, and is trusted to make sound technical decisions during both day‑to‑day operations and critical incidents.
Responsibilities
Hands‑On Reliability Engineering
Design, build, and maintain secure, highly available, and scalable infrastructure
Write and maintain Infrastructure as Code, automation scripts, and CI/CD pipelines
Actively troubleshoot production issues and perform performance tuning
Participate in and drive improvements to monitoring, observability, and alerting
Stay fully involved in on‑call and production operations
Technical Decision‑Making and Influence
Act as the technical authority for SRE and DevOps practices
Guide architectural and implementation decisions across:
Cloud infrastructure (AWS)
CI/CD pipelines
Observability and automation tooling
Define and evolve standards, patterns, and best practices
Make and communicate clear technical decisions during high‑impact situations
Incident Leadership and Reliability Ownership
Lead response to high‑severity incidents
Ensure effective use of recovery procedures and runbooks
Facilitate root cause analysis (RCA) and post‑incident reviews
Drive implementation of preventive and long‑term reliability improvements
Define and track SLOs, SLIs, and SLAs
Guidance, Mentorship and Delegation
Mentor and guide other SREs on technical and operational topics
Delegate tasks and initiatives based on complexity, risk, and expertise
Influence prioritization aligned with business impact and operational risk
Promote a culture of ownership, quality, and continuous improvement
Your Profile
10+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or Infrastructure Engineering
Strong track record as a senior technical IC or SME
Deep hands‑on experience with:
AWS cloud platforms
Terraform, Chef (or similar IaC tools)
Kafka experience (AWS MSK or Confluent)
CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
Docker and Kubernetes
Observability tools (Datadog, ELK, Splunk)
Python or Bash scripting
Strong SQL skills and workload analysis experience (Aurora PostgreSQL preferred)
Extensive experience in incident response and on‑call operations
Strong knowledge of distributed systems, networking, and security
Nice‑to‑Have
AWS, Kubernetes, or Kafka certifications
Hybrid or multi‑cloud experience
Background in high‑transaction or customer‑facing systems
Work Arrangement
Hybrid: Onsite 4× per month (Makati City)
Shift Options: 5:00 AM - 2:00 PM or 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Manila)
Workdays: Either Mon – Fri OR Tue – Sat (depending on weekend work requirements)
