The Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center (NGMC) of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an exceptionally talented, motivated, and creative Microelectronics Modeling Engineer for our Space Park Foundry Lab (SPF) located in Manhattan Beach, California - where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production customers as well as emerging technology programs.

Our multidisciplinary foundry team enables activities from development to sustainment process engineering. SPF is responsible for all aspects of semiconductor technology including design, mask making, wafer fabrication, test, and assembly. The candidate must be a strong team participant, have excellent communication skills, and be resourceful and multitalented. A strong understanding of semiconductor technology and microelectronic modeling methodologies is essential.
The candidate will own the development of models across a multitude of technologies. This role involves leadership responsibilities such as coordination of device testing and technical leadership of adapting new modeling techniques. Additionally, this role will partner closely with our Microelectronics Products & Services team and the layout team.
Key Responsibilities:
Ownership of model development including mentoring for junior engineers
Ownership of device test data including coordination of testing, analysis of data, and parameter extraction to support modeling efforts
Support integration of models into PDKs
Support and shape modeling opportunities in foundries
This requisition may be filled as a Principal Microelectronics Modeling Engineer or Senior Principal Microelectronics Modeling Engineer.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Microelectronics Modeling Engineer:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or other related STEM discipline with 5 years of relevant experience (3 years with a Master’s degree and 0 with a PhD).
Experience with semiconductor device modeling
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze measurement data and understand its relationship to the device
Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools
Has a programming background
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
US Citizenship Required
Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Microelectronics Modeling Engineer:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or other related STEM discipline with 8 years of relevant experience (6 years with a Master’s degree and 3 with a PhD).
Experience with semiconductor device modeling
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze measurement data and understand its relationship to the device
Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools
Has a programming background
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
US Citizenship Required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with High Electron Mobility Transistor (HEMT) or Heterojunction Bipolar Transistor (HBT) modeling
- Subject matter expert in modeling principles and device physics, who can pioneer new models and modeling methods
- ADS or AWR PDK Development experience
- ADS, AWR, Calibre, or Assura DRC and LVS Development experience
- Innovation in model development including design of modeling devices, and development of modeling test methods
- Leadership or mentorship experience
