Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for Principal / Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer (Lab Designer) to join the team of qualified individuals on our Test and Evaluation team. This role is located onsite in Melbourne, FL.

In this role, the selected candidate will research, plan, design and develop mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Apply research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review, track, and modify test station design documents as necessary.
- Generate and track Bill of Materials (BOMs), schedule, and execution of test station development
- Coordinate with a multi-discipline team (supply chain, operations, QA, etc.) to ensure a quality product is built and remains on schedule and within budget
- Develop and perform Acceptance Test Procedures for test stations.
- Development, integration and documentation of Laboratory systems

Basic Qualifications (Principal):
- Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline AND 5 years of related professional/military experience OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 3 years of related professional/military experience, OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 1 years of related professional/military experience
- Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated U.S. government Secret clearance (must be in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company.
- Must have knowledge of NX Design tool or other Mechanical design tools.
- Must have experience with test equipment, such as, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, power supplies, etc.
- Must have understanding of test engineering concepts
Basic Qualifications (Senior Principal):
- Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline AND 8 years of related professional/military experience OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 6 years of related professional/military experience, OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 4 years of related professional/military experience
- Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated U.S. government Secret clearance (must be in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company.
- Must have knowledge of NX Design tool or other Mechanical design tools.
- Must have experience with test equipment, such as, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, power supplies, etc.
- Must have understanding of test engineering concepts
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS or PhD in Mechanical/Systems Engineering
- Experience with test station design and development
- Experience with creating and maintaining BOMs (Bill of Materials)
- Experience developing and executing ATPs (Acceptance Test Procedures
- Experience as a Mechanical Designer
- Manufacturing/liaison support experience is also desired to support build and installation of assemblies as well as testing of aircraft systems.
