Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for Principal / Senior Principal Electrical Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.

In this role, the successful candidate will primarily support the program as part of the Lab Design and Operations team based out of Melbourne, FL. Candidate will Research, develop, design, and test electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks as well as design electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, track, and modify test station design documents as necessary.
  • Generate and track Bill of Materials (BOMs), schedule, and execution of test station development
  • Coordinate with a multi-discipline team (supply chain, operations, QA, etc.) to ensure a quality product is built and remains on schedule and within budget
  • Develop and perform Acceptance Test Procedures for test stations.
  • Designs will be accomplished utilizing ICD’s. (Interface Control Document
  • Develop interface block diagram and wiring diagrams to be used to produce cable assembly BTP’s (Build to Package’s).
  • Develop, integrate and document Laboratory systems, electrical cable designs and electrical assemblies for aerospace programs.
  • Develop and integrate wiring designs of a functional system utilizing AutoCAD Electrical or other Electrical design tool.
  • Create preliminary block diagrams, wiring diagrams and detailed assemblies such as cable assemblies, Circuit Breaker assemblies, Relay assemblies etc. Must be familiar using SAE AS 50881 (Mil-5088), additional MIL specs and proven commercial practices.

Basic Qualifications (Principal):

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline AND 5 years of related professional/military experience OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 3 years of related professional/military experience, OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 1 years of related professional/military experience

  • Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final U.S. adjudicated government Secret clearance and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company.

  • Must have knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical Design tool or other Electrical design tool.

  • Must be able to develop interface block diagram and wiring diagrams to be used to produce cable assembly BTP’s (Build to Package’s). (Designs will be accomplished utilizing ICD’s. (Interface Control Document))

  • Must have knowledge of networks and Microsoft computer skills are required.

  • Must have experience with test equipment, such as, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, power supplies, etc.

  • Must have experience reading electrical schematics and design documentation

  • Must have understanding of test engineering concepts

Basic Qualifications (Sr. Principal):

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline AND 8 years of related professional/military experience OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 6 years of related professional/military experience, OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 4 years of related professional/military experience

  • Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final U.S. adjudicated government Secret clearance and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company.

  • Must have knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical Design tool or other Electrical design tool.

  • Must be able to develop interface block diagram and wiring diagrams to be used to produce cable assembly BTP’s (Build to Package’s). (Designs will be accomplished utilizing ICD’s. (Interface Control Document))

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS or PhD in Electrical/Systems/STEM Engineering
  • Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance (or higher)

  • Experience with test station design and development
  • Experience with creating and maintaining BOMs (Bill of Materials)
  • Experience developing and executing ATPs (Acceptance Test Procedures)
  • Extensive experience as AutoCAD Electrical Designer
  • Manufacturing/liaison support experience is also desired to support build and installation of assemblies as well as testing of aircraft systems.

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
