Principal Scientist or Associate Director, Preclinical and Translational PK/PD Modeling

How you’ll make an impact:
The successful candidate will develop translational models (PK, PK/PD, PBPK, QSP) to guide decision-making and help optimize therapeutics for clinical success. This is the ideal role for a motivated and adaptable individual that excels in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. You will be embedded within DMPK, an active member of core project teams, and collaborate extensively across diverse functions to establish translational dose/PK/PD/efficacy/safety relationships and support the rapid advancement of multiple drug candidates.
- Develop and implement innovative, fit-for-purpose, quantitative analyses and strategies for translational modeling across preclinical programs (incorporating empirical and mechanistic PK, PK/PD, PBPK, QSP, and/or AI approaches as appropriate)
- Provide human PK and efficacious dose projections, and drug-drug interaction (DDI) or similar risk assessments
- Design, model, and interpret preclinical in vitro and in vivo PK/PD studies
- In collaboration with Computer-Aided Drug Design and Clinical Pharmacology colleagues, participate in developing quantitative models to predict molecular and PK/ADME properties of targeted protein degraders
- Establish and maintain strong cross-functional collaborations with Preclinical and Clinical Pharmacology, Biology, Translational Medicine, Toxicology, Medicinal Chemistry, CMC, DMPK, and Informatics colleagues
- Liaise with collaboration partners and CROs to generate data and analyses
- Support IND submissions and other regulatory interactions
Skills and experience you’ll bring:
- PhD in quantitative sciences, engineering, applied mathematics, pharmacometrics, pharmaceutical sciences, or related field with 7+ years of relevant industry experience (or MS degree with additional industry experience)
- Proficiency with relevant software and languages including MATLAB/SimBiology, Phoenix/WinNonlin/NLME, R, and/or Julia. Experience with PBPK software such GastroPlus, Simcyp, or PK-Sim is a plus
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present technical results to teams with diverse scientific backgrounds
- Prior experience within multifunctional core project teams is required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced matrix environment
- Must have a strong understanding of PK/ADME, pharmacology, translational sciences, PK/PD modeling, and human dose prediction principles, and be able to give clear recommendations for the design of preclinical and clinical studies
- Passion for flexible, fit-for-purpose, data-driven analysis, and applying innovative quantitative solutions to advance drug programs
