What Will You Do?
In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:

May supervise product safety testing, including: preparation of test sample(s), execution of the test(s), test reporting and data analysis.

Interface with regulatory agencies and third-party certification authorities.

Assist in resolving product compliance issues as they arise.

Anticipate and prevent potential product compliance issues

Represents company by being an active member on Domestic and International standards (ANSI, IEC, UL) development organizations committees for electric powered products.

Tracks safety and regulatory compliance status on electric powered products and ensure that TTC OPE teams meet their safety and regulatory compliance requirements prior to production and through product shipment release.

Advises OPE teams product development teams on electric product safety compliance.

Evaluates and interprets U.S. and International product safety and regulatory standards to ensure divisional products meet all standards required for the markets they are sold into.

Provides safety and regulatory related design guidance for product development teams.

Evaluates updates to current standards and implements new requirements to existing and new products.

Supports European Union Risk Assessments.

Operators’ manuals

Assists in development of all safety and regulatory decals.

Communicates and educates OPE divisional engineering, product evaluation, and technical publications on standards changes.

Serves as electric product engineering liaison to the Legal Department and works collaboratively with Legal on safety and regulatory compliance topics as assigned.

Supports compliance to the Corporate Product Safety Policy and related guidelines.

Supports company Quality Policy by working within the documented Quality system. Responsible for the operation of the quality system within their respective area. Participates in quality initiatives and training as needed.

Participates in applicable specialization group activities

What Do You Need?
To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:

BS in Electrical, Mechatronics or applicable engineering degree required.
-
E3-Typically seven (5+) years’ experience with evaluating safety standards, reviewing & ensuring product designs meet requirements for compliance, auditing, preferably within the electric products industry.
-
E4-Typically seven (7+) years’ experience with evaluating safety standards, reviewing & ensuring product designs meet requirements for compliance, auditing, proactive product safety management or compliance in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the electric products industry.

E5-Typically seven (10+) years’ experience with evaluating safety standards, reviewing & ensuring product designs meet requirements for compliance, standards development, auditing, proactive product safety management or compliance in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the electric products industry.

Qualified candidates need to be versed in regulatory compliance and standards promulgation activity regarding electric products.
-
Ideal background is in product safety and liability within manufacturing, particularly OPE or other electrical product.

Must be able to find and analyze electric product safety standards and assist teams with their understanding of the standards.

Previous experience in applying electrical components and subsystems to mechanical equipment for monitoring and control. Demonstrated capability to create and analyze portions of product design. Has demonstrated a high level of productivity and competency in the execution of duties

Excellent communication skills, ability to interact with all levels of personnel internally and externally, as well as with various groups, business functions and governmental agencies. Able to effectively convey proposed strategies and legal requirements to senior-level management.

International experience and experience in international standards writing capacity is a plus.

Must be able to coordinate or supervise work of consultants, contract, or full-time employees.

Supports product safety initiatives for TTC’s OPE Divisions. Works with project teams to accomplish goals. Provides training, task and/or project leadership.

Domestic and International travel required to industry safety and regulatory committee meetings, accident investigation sites, test sites, distributors, customers, vendors, manufacturing facilities and other locations as required.

Competitive Salary – The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
