The Advanced Packaging Technology Development (APTD) department at Micron Technology is at the forefront of innovation, driving the advancement of memory and storage Interconnects and Packaging solutions that transform how the world uses information. As a Principal RDA and Metrology Engineer in APTD, you will be primarily responsible for creating, developing, and optimizing Assembly Stacking, wafer level packaging, defect detection, and metrology methods to develop next generation products. Successful candidates will exhibit strong logic and analytical problem-solving thought processes, approaching them with a "How can I resolve this today?" mindset. We are seeking someone who can efficiently organize multifunctional teams to complete projects and solve an array of problems, coordinate meetings, and initiate follow-up actions with a "How will I make a difference today?" approach.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve defect and metrology-related problems by applying failure analysis, FMEA, 8D or SPC/FDC methodology

  • Drive product quality, yield improvements, cost reduction, productivity, and risk management as well as resolve manufacturing line problems

  • Coordinate and carry out sensitivity and gauge evaluation/optimization to implement changes at process step

  • Lead and participate in yield improvement and cost optimization activities

  • Manage, audit, and collaborate with equipment suppliers to achieve quality, cost, and risk mitigation objectives

  • Supervise the health of your assigned modules ensuring high-quality output while collaborating with the Technology Development team to meet Micron’s technology roadmap

Required Skills:
  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field

  • 5+ years of experience in Advanced Packaging Technology metrology or RDA development for semiconductor products

  • Strong knowledge of RDA tooling capability, process areas, and experience utilizing AI to improve outputs and timelines

  • 5+ years of experience in creating recipes and models for defect analysis, working extensively with the process flow related to area equipment and SPC principles

  • Experience developing procedures or action plans when one isn't in place

  • Validated automation skills through previous automation projects requiring coding/machine learning/JMP Scripting

  • Die and/or wafer level packaging development manufacturing experience in metrology or RDA technology is required

  • Confirmed ability to communicate and present effectively to a wide variety of audiences, prioritize, stay organized, and work effectively with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team.

  • Strong understanding of physics, area chemistry, and semiconductor equipment concepts

Preferred Experience:

  • 8+ years working directly with Advanced Packaging metrology or RDA development in the semiconductor industry

  • Data Science and project management experience

  • Solid technical writing and research experience to assess process adjustment requirements and guide recommendations for improvements and innovations
