The Lead QA Engineer acts as the primary quality owner for a business vertical, balancing technical execution with team mentorship and close collaboration across the development lifecycle.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Test Strategy Execution: Implement and maintain the comprehensive end-to-end testing strategy for an assigned platform or feature domain (e.g., Checkout, Mobile App, Search API).
  • Automation Maintenance: Lead the hands-on development and maintenance of automated test scripts within the existing automation frameworks (Web, Mobile, API), ensuring high efficiency and stability.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify and resolve technical debt within the testing suite and recommend improvements to the existing CI/CD integration to speed up delivery pipelines.
  • Specialized Testing: Execute and coordinate specialized testing efforts, including Performance and Load Testing and basic Security/Vulnerability testing within the assigned domain.
  • Mentorship: Act as the primary mentor and technical resource for 2-4 QA Engineers, providing guidance on test design, automation best practices, and issue analysis.
  • Documentation & Standards: Ensure all team documentation (test plans, test cases, defect reports) is detailed, thorough, and compliant with the QA policies and standards.
  • Process Enforcement: Enforce best practices and testing standards (e.g., reporting metrics, utilizing test management tools) within the feature team.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the key quality liaison, working directly with Product Managers, Developers, and DevOps on a daily basis to integrate testing activities early in the development cycle (Shift-Left approach).
  • Defect Management: Manage the day-to-day defect lifecycle for the assigned domain, including triage, prioritization, clear documentation, and ensuring timely resolution according to established SLAs.
  • Risk Reporting: Identify, analyze, and communicate quality risks and blockers to the Engineering Managers and Product VPs.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TEAM

  • Required: 6+ years of progressive, hands-on experience in enterprise software development and testing, including a minimum of 2+ years operating in a formal Lead QA or Senior QA role with mentorship responsibilities (at least 3-5 team members).
  • Proven, hands-on ability to code and debug complex automated tests and maintain large-scale frameworks using tools such as Cypress, Playwright, Appium(or Selenium).
  • Strong working knowledge of different testing types (Integration, Performance, System) and hands-on experience testing complex APIs and utilizing relational/non-relational databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently analyze complex technical problems, troubleshoot defects, and propose effective solutions to development teams.
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD principles and practical experience working within continuous deployment workflows (using tools like Jenkins or GitHub Actions).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly articulate technical issues and coach/mentor junior QA team members.
  • Desirable (Bonus): Experience in the E-Commerce or Retail domains.
