Northrop Grumman, Space Systems, is currently seeking a Principal Production Scheduler to join our team.  This position will be supporting the Utah Operations group at our Promontory Utah facility.

Production scheduling is responsible for a variety of activities and processes, including gathering the production needs for each program across assigned production line, understanding the capabilities and constraints of operations, resolving conflicts due to constraint or capacity.  They are responsible for generating a production plan that spans 18 months and developing a detailed production schedule for operations to follow.

This position will report to the Production Scheduling Manager for propulsion systems.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate with programs to gather the customer requirements and deliverables.

  • Create an 18-month production plan that meets the customer requirements.  Work with multifunction groups to resolve any conflicts or constraints to in support of the production plan

  • Plans, prepares, issues and controls production schedules and coordinates with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements.

  • Ensures that the production schedule aligns with and is supported by the business systems (MRP/ERP, Dynamic scheduling system, etc.)

  • Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed.

  • Schedules equipment and personnel, confirms material supply and demands, prepares work orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements.

  • Coordinates interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, etc.; schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers and requests for shipping orders.

Basic Qualifications:

  • HS diploma and 9 years of experience working in operations, operations management, production planning, scheduling; Associate Degree plus 7 years experience; Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of experience; Master’s Degree with 3 years experience

  • Excellent computer skills with the ability to become an expert in the company's dynamic scheduling system (SYNC) and the use of other scheduling tools (Primavera, Project, etc.)

  • Excellent writing and communication skills   

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality controls

  • Excellent productivity and organizational skills·

  • Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions

  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and execute quickly at the highest quality

  • Experience working with others to improve processes and overall efficiencies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Production Scheduling experience

  • Experience in working in scheduling and MRP systems

  • Experience in Aerospace or Defense manufacturing environments

  • Familiarity with Government change control procedures (NASA, DoD, Airforce, Navy, etc.)

  • Ability to obtain DOD security clearance at the Secret Level

  • Understanding or certification in Lean Manufacturing.

  • Proven history of leveraging multiple departments to solve complex issues

Primary Level Salary Range: $73,900.00 - $110,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
