Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Production Planner and Scheduler – Level 3 to join our team in the Space System business unit. This position will be located in Chandler, AZ supporting manufacturing for cable assembly line, machine shop, and integration.
Job Description:
- Plans, prepares, issues and controls production schedules and coordinates with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements.
- Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed.
- Schedules equipment and personnel, confirms material supply and demands, prepares work orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements.
- Coordinates inter-departmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, etc.; schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers and requests for shipping orders.
- Other tasks as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
- Complete understanding and application of production control principles, concepts, practices, and standards.
- Full knowledge of industry practices.
- May refer to established precedents and policies.
- Plan schedules and arrange activities in accomplishing objectives.
- Exerts some influence on the overall objectives and long-range goals of the organization.
- Interacts with senior internal personnel on significant matters often requiring coordination between functional departments
- Understanding of multilevel bill of material with the ability to critically evaluate and summarize a corresponding Line of Balance
Basic Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree with 5 years of relevant work experience in operations planning and production scheduling or 8-12 (In lieu of degree) years of relevant work experience in operations planning and production scheduling.
- Experience in MS Office Applications (exceptional use of Excel and Powerpoint)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience planning in an ERP system & familiar with the MRP process
- Must be a US citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
- Costpoint and/or SAP experience
- CPIM- Certified in Planning and Inventory Management
- Supply Chain experience
- Manufacturing/Production line experience
- Active DoD security clearance

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Primary Level Salary Range: $73,900.00 - $110,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
