Responsibilities
- Define and execute the Payments product strategy, including card processing, APMs, cross-border/local acquiring, settlement flows, and gateway orchestration.
- Lead discovery and research efforts to deeply understand merchant needs, regulatory mandates (e.g. 3DS2, SEPA, PSD2, UPI), and region-specific behaviors.
- Build on Token lifecycle management (vaulting, card updates, network tokens), Payments Risk and Compliance capabilities
- Define merchant-facing tooling for observability and configurability across their payment stack
- Look across all Recurly products, features, and functionality to creative innovative solutions that solve problems or realize opportunities holistically. Don’t just own a feature, own a problem/opportunity.
- Take big ideas and break them down into deliverable chunks of functionality that prioritize items with the highest ROI first (focus on getting value out to market quickly).
- Work cross functionally and collaboratively with leaders on Technology, Marketing, Sales, and Customer teams to drive successful product launches and execute successfully on go-to-market strategies. These include driving partnership conversations, analyzing costs, facilitating pricing strategies, competitive analysis, etc.
- Be an exceptional communicator, both written and oral. As a Principal PM, it is important that information you share is catered for the audience (including execs) you are delivering it to.
- Quantify your impact through KPIs and metrics and hold yourself accountable to the outcomes you are trying to achieve.
- Own outcomes, not just outputs — drive measurable impact, metrics and KPIs on failover success, dispute resolution, chargebacks and auth rates.
- Evangelize payments vision internally and externally, and mentor others across the Product organization on how payments connects to value and growth.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience delivering products on payments and/or in the fintech industry, including 0-1 successful product launches.
- Deep understanding of card processing, authorization + capture, settlements, and local acquiring.
- Entrepreneurial spirit with proven experience implementing and managing payment workflows.
- Working knowledge of global risk and compliance mandates and end-user experience
- Experience enabling or integrating alternate payment methods (APMs) and e-wallets.
- Strong understanding of tokenization, fraud signals, chargebacks, and payment retries.
- Ability to lead discovery and roadmap initiatives that tie directly to merchant ROI
- Excellent communication skills and executive presence — able to align senior stakeholders across engineering, operations, CS and GTM.
- Working knowledge of ML services and concepts in payments
- Strategic, structured thinker who thrives on ambiguity and scales product direction with confidence.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills that drive clarity and influence at the C-suite level as well drive successful collaboration and alignment across different levels of stakeholders across engineering, legal, compliance, marketing, operations, and finance.
- Self-motivated, with a strong sense of ownership to drive product success
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
