Role OverviewAs the Principal Product Manager, AI Platform at Federato, you will define the vision and strategy for building a state-of-the-art AI platform that powers an expanding portfolio of customer-facing product experiences.
You’ll join a highly collaborative, cross-functional team of experts across product, engineering, data science, and insurance. In this role, you’ll work closely with Federato’s AI team to lead high-visibility, high-impact initiatives that are foundational to the company’s long-term success.
The ideal candidate is passionate about leveraging cutting-edge LLMs to solve meaningful user problems, deeply metrics-driven, and brings a proven track record of building ML platforms in fast-paced, growth-stage environments.
What You’ll Be Doing- Define and drive the vision for Federato’s AI Platform, setting strategic direction for a portfolio of foundational capabilities that enhance underwriting efficiency, decision-making, and reliability.
- Lead the end-to-end product lifecycle—from discovery through delivery—for high-impact, technically complex initiatives that leverage cutting-edge LLMs and AI technologies in ambiguous problem spaces.
- Translate complex technical needs into actionable product requirements, collaborating closely with Engineering, Data Science, and Design to deliver scalable, data-intensive platform solutions.
- Anticipate challenges across the AI platform stack and drive cross-functional efforts to proactively address future customer and business needs.
- Deeply understand the workflows and pain points of our ideal customer personas to ensure seamless integration of AI capabilities into their decision-making processes.
- Foster strong cross-functional partnerships with Data Scientists, ML Engineers, Software and Data Engineers, and industry experts to co-develop practical and innovative solutions.
- Establish and monitor clear success metrics to continuously evaluate product performance, user impact, and business value, ensuring the platform delivers measurable outcomes.
- 8+ years of Product Management experience
- 5+ years of AI Platform domain experience
- A degree in a STEM field such as Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline; an MBA and/or prior experience in insurance or financial services is a strong plus.
- Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset with experience working in an early-stage startup or as a founder, comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving 0→1 product development.
- Deep understanding of AI/ML concepts, data analysis, and experimental design, with a track record of applying these to real-world, user-facing products.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with experience influencing cross-functional teams.
- Prior experience building products in vertical SaaS markets, particularly in industries with legacy systems or resistance to change.
- Passionate about building innovative, first-of-their-kind products, and energized by fast-paced environments with ambitious goals and timelines.
- Ability to travel to East Coast roughly 20% of the time or based on product spike timing
$220,000 - $250,000 a year
Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate location, experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above. Total compensation package does include stock options, bonus, benefits and additional perks.
