Principal Pipeline EngineerOverall Summary
A Principal Pipeline Engineer with proven experience in the design and engineering of transportation piping system according to ASME B31.4 and/or ASME B31.8 mainly for cross country pipelines, production pipelines, trunk lines, test lines and flow lines in the Oil & Gas, hydrocarbon and/or infrastructure industries. Minimum 12 years’ experience in Conceptual Designs, FEED, and detailed engineering of revamps, grassroots, and brown-field medium to large scale projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of about up to 10 pipeline engineers and designers
- Scoping of pipeline projects, including discipline deliverables
- Develop discipline work plan
- Develop basis of design documents
- Estimate work-hours for pipeline and related projects
- Provide technical support and guidance to the project team, including the Clients
- Responsible for design integrity of pipeline scope, performance of assigned staff, on-schedule delivery of the work within budget
- Lead technical presentations to Clients and their representatives as may be required
Key Interactions:
- Broad understanding of other disciplines activities
- Interact with the Project Management and other disciplines to achieve the design objectives
- Client representatives
Qualifications & Years of Experience:
Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline, and a minimum of 12 years’ experience in Oil & Gas, hydrocarbon and/or infrastructure industriesKey Skills & Technical Competencies:
- Knowledge & understanding of Design practices, Construction Practices and Procedures
- knowledge of codes and industry standards ASME, NFPA & API
- knowledge in Plot Plan and equipment layout, pipeline layout, pipeline protection and drain systems philosophy
- knowledge of pipeline location classifications and pipeline calculations, including hydraulics and surge analysis
- knowledge in pipeline material selections and specifications
- knowledge of Stress Analysis and Saudi Aramco Standards and procedures will be an added advantage
- Must be proficient in English, oral and written
- Good technical presentation skills
