We are looking for a Principal Performance Analytics Engineer to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies. This role will report to Head of Quality and Reliability and is based in San Jose, CA. This is a fully on-site, in office role.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Become deeply familiar with and utilize the best-in-class (ASRD model) performance model to measure the fleet performance against, and create predictive, and trending analytics to detect anomalies within the fleet.
- Create alerts and visual trend analytics to show regional, product related, deviation related, or other trends showing deviations from expected.
- Gather data inputs from multiple sources to check commonality with use cases (Load following, grid trip, high amperage, CC, other) as well as any other factors (age, region, environment…) that may be contributing to the degradation.
- Gather and validate data from multiple databases using Python, SQL or other methods to complete analyses on performance, reliability and degradation for Bloom Energy fuel cell systems.
- Work with others in Quality, Product Development, Field Service and Remote Monitoring to analyze information to support root cause and corrective actions of product failures and other operational incidents.
- Work very closely with the AI teams to ensure that work knowledge is shared between the groups, and no duplication.
- Deep understanding of the controls algorithms that are being used at start up, and during operation that are controlling the algorithms of the HB performance.
- Develop methods to automate repeated analyses to allow for effective and efficient monitoring of fleet performance and reliability metrics.
- Track progress in reducing the cost of poor quality issues to our business.
- Organize data input into Excel and JMP statistical analysis package to complete critical reliability analyses.
- Lead problem solving efforts together with Service, Operations, Quality Engineering and Product Development to interpret the results of analyses to lead continuous improvement of product performance, degradation and reliability.
- Create PowerPoint presentations summarizing the analyses completed with assumptions, conclusions and recommendations for customer and internal audiences.
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Data Science, with Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Reliability or Systems engineering with 10 years of experience minimum
- Preferable track of study or work experience in Data analytics related to Product Reliability Engineering.
- Strong data mining skills including expertise in SQL and Python with discipline and attention to detail for data and analysis validation and accuracy.
- Experience in data analysis using JMP, Minitab or other statistical analysis programs and Tableau for data visualization.
- Reliability Block Diagram, Fault Tree Analysis, or Markov modelling using Reliasoft or other modelling software is a plus.
- Skilled at Root Cause and Corrective Actions (RCCA) using Six Sigma or 8D methods to solve complex problems working with cross-functional teams.
- Strong PC and Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint experience to enable the creation of professional reliability reports and presentations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
