Principal Pavement Engineer

We are seeking a Principal Pavement Engineer to be based in Brisbane who will play an instrumental part in building our pavement engineering capability.

Reporting to our Civil Discipline Manager, you’ll bring your technical expertise to the design and delivery of durable, high-performing pavement solutions across a range of transport and infrastructure projects.  Whilst you will be predominantly involved on QLD projects you will also have the opportunity to support interstate projects.

The role will be technically focused, where you will positively influence project outcomes, drive innovation, implement new and emerging technology, provide mentorship, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

What you will bring

  • Providing both technical leadership and technical advice on pavement design as part of the temporary works and permanent works design development throughout the project lifecycle from concept design, detailed design through to construction phase services and asset management;
  • Developing and producing flexible and rigid pavement thickness designs, rigid pavement detailing and jointing layouts, pavement interface and edge detailing, subsurface drainage details and plans;
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Working in collaboration with other design teams and disciplines to ensure the integrity and quality of the overall design;
  • Meeting project deadlines and ensuring that commitments and expectations are met;
  • Coordinating pavement designs with project teams working across multiple offices;
  • Embracing a strong digital work environment and delivery culture;
  • Creating sustainable and innovative pavement solutions;

Qualification & Experience:

  • Relevant engineering degree or equivalent professional accreditation. Post-graduate qualifications would be an advantage; 
  • Relevant Australian experience in all forms of pavement design including flexible and rigid pavement types for a range of civil infrastructure projects.
  • Expertise in pavement evaluation and rehabilitation design is an advantage but not essential;
  • Expertise in pavement materials is an advantage but not essential;
  • Passion to drive innovation and improvement in pavement design solutions;
  • Ability to lead provide mentorship to up and coming engineers.
  • Competent in the use of Austroads Guide to Pavement Technology series;
  • Familiarity working on TMR related projects.
  • Competent in the use of specialist pavement design software such as CIRCLY
  • Experience with other design software such as AutoCAD, FAARFIELD and EverFE would be advantageous;
  • Demonstrated involvement in technical societies in the field of pavements would be advantageous;
  • Demonstrated technical, commercial and delivery acumen;
  • Excellent presentation skills;
  • Demonstrated self-management and proven ability to work independently.
