Role Overview:

We are seeking a Principal Overhead Wiring Technical Professional to lead the study, design and delivery of overhead wiring systems for major rail infrastructure projects. Acting as a technical leader within the rail team, you will provide specialist expertise across the full project lifecycle, from concept development through to detailed design and construction support.

This is a senior position suited to an experienced OHW professional who enjoys technical problem solving, client engagement, project leadership and mentoring emerging engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and delivery of overhead wiring systems across rail infrastructure projects from concept through to detailed design.
  • Manage project delivery, including programme, resource allocation and cost control.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers, designers and drafters.
  • Develop innovative engineering solutions to complex technical challenges.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing trusted technical advice and regular project updates.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports, proposals and engineering documentation.
  • Support business development activities and identify opportunities for future project growth.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated rail solutions.

About You:

You are a highly experienced rail professional with extensive overhead wiring design expertise and a passion for delivering technically excellent outcomes.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer status (CPEng) or the ability to achieve chartership.
  • Eligibility for membership with Engineers Australia.
  • Extensive experience as a Principal or Senior Overhead Wiring Engineer on major rail infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise across OHW system, reference, basic, layout, allocation and construction design.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, earthing and bonding requirements.
  • Knowledge of overhead wiring design principles, system ranges, voltages, currents, maintenance requirements and cost estimating.
  • Experience using MicroStation and Bentley ProjectWise.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality and environmental performance.
