Position Description:
Develops network design and security by implementing automations and provisions within various cloud service providers (Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, and Google Cloud). Monitors platforms and provides infrastructure support by clustering and load balancing IP routes, firewalls, proxies, and Domain Name System (DNS). Builds processes and workflows and leverages cloud Platform as a Service (PaaS) integration. Ensures the balance of information technology services and business community needs using IT Service Management Methodologies (ITSM). Performs scripts, using Python, Ansible, and Software-Defied Networking (SDN) Programs. Works across the enterprise to identify areas of improvement and define and measure performance through objectives and Key Performance Indicator (KPIs) to comply with projections.
Primary Responsibilities:
Works with designated teams to troubleshoot severe issues in support of internal and external customers.
Troubleshoots issues within the Content Security Policies (CSPs) and connectivity to and from the network.
Provides technology solutions to daily issues and estimates technical evaluation requirements for technology initiatives.
Provides technical oversight and engages with key stakeholders to ensure critical incidents are resolved in a timely manner.
Develops training and awareness programs for internal teams for ongoing support.
Works on resiliency for cloud network and automation opportunities.
Performs audits and validation of controls.
Provides operational support and participates in the on-call rotation.
Provides guidance and supports to business unit technologists deploying to the public Cloud.
Supports problem resolutions and root cause analysis.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Network Engineer (or closely related occupation) providing solutions across data centers and cloud environments using fundamental networking technologies (switching, routing, and wireless access points), network security, software-defined networking, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Network Engineer (or closely related occupation) providing solutions across data centers and cloud environments using fundamental networking technologies (switching, routing, and wireless access points), network security, software-defined networking, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) performing network management on routers and switches, using Infoblox and IP routing; and configuring security devices -- Check Point and Juniper firewalls, load balancers, and proxy systems -- to ensure data protection, network security, and efficiency, in a robust security and diverse technology environment.
DE troubleshooting problems systematically in on-premises (data center) and cloud environments (AWS or Azure) to resolve IP connectivity issues and handle high-priority tasks, using Wireshark or SolarWinds protocol analyzer tools or packet capture software (Riverbed or TCPdump).
DE configuring, troubleshooting, and administering proxy (Bluecoat and Zscaler) infrastructure and supporting enterprise DNS, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), IPAM, and Network Time Protocol (NTP) needs, using BT Diamond, Infoblox, or Route53 tools for core networks and users.
DE implementing controlled changes and tracking IT service disruptions through Change, Incident, and Problem management tickets, using ITSM practices in ServiceNow or HP Service Manager (HPSM).
