The general purpose of the Principal National Account Executive (NAE) role is to develop and manage key national payer accounts within the National Access Decisions Team. While this current opening has a focus on CVS/Aetna, the nature of the work is dynamic and a Principal NAE role should have skills and capabilities that are transferable across the national payer landscape.
The Opportunity:
As a Principal NAE you will play a critical role in representing Genentech and its products, ultimately strengthening formulary and medical policy positioning, increasing national, large-scale/volume patient access, easing patient access constraints and challenges, and generally supporting Genentech’s franchises in increasing financial results in the immediate, medium and longer-term. In this role you will also have account management responsibilities for the business units within the account ecosystem (e.g., Medicare, Commercial, Specialty Pharmacy, pathway vendor, etc.).
- You will develop strategic and tactical business plans across payer account, with full alignment to GNE CMG and/or squad goals that enable effective and efficient national account management
- You will identify and cultivate important relationships with customers, partners, stakeholders and other influencers both internally and externally
- You think creatively about cross-portfolio opportunities and develop strategies and tactics as needed
- You will ensure assigned targets, goals and objectives for assigned account are met or exceeded
- You will act in complete and total compliance with all laws, regulations and policies
- You will represent Genentech’s franchises to the highest ethical and professional standards and in accordance with guidelines, strategic direction and key brand marketing
- You will utilize only approved resources and messages to meet goals and targets
- You participate as needed in cross-functional or other project teams and/or support peers from across the Customer Engagement Field Teams (ecosystems and other national team members) to excel

Who you are:
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA or other related graduate-level degree is preferred
- Average of 7 or more years’ work experience with experience in leading a team
- A minimum of 4 years’ previous managed care account management experience with at least 2 years previous experience in the biopharmaceutical industry segment
- Previous field sales, field sales management, and/or marketing experience in the biotech, pharmaceutical, or related industry is preferred
- Must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of managed care strategy development, including contracting strategy and administration
- Proven track record for consistently meeting or exceeding financial and/or other quantitative targets, as well as qualitative goals
- Previous experience in completing and implementing attainable business plans
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $191,700.00 – $355,900.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position is eligible to earn incentive compensation that is calculated and paid in accordance with the applicable Incentive Compensation Plan for the role. This is a field-based position and overnight travel may be required. This position requires significant driving of either a company provided or personal vehicle as well as prolonged periods of sitting, both of which are part of the essential duties and responsibilities of the role. As a result, Genentech, Inc.
