THE ROLE & THE TEAM
As a Principal/Senior Software Engineer in the Pricing, Product and Consumer Insights (PPCI) team, you will contribute and shape the development of ML forecasting models and data pipelines at Lounge by Zalando, following engineering best practices with a strong focus on operational excellence.
In close collaboration with applied scientists and engineers you will build, develop and maintain a wide range of ML-based forecasting products throughout the assortment lifecycle. These models are used on a day-to-day basis in business processes to make major steering decisions that are crucial for the business.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)
Lead technical development of existing and new ML forecasting models and data. pipelines, combining hands-on contributions to the code base with guidance of others.
Translate business needs to product development roadmap and prioritize delivery.
Regularly communicate with stakeholders to address queries about forecast performance and align expectations.
Work closely with applied science and engineering leaders, product managers, designers and commercial stakeholders.
Mentor junior to senior engineers and actively collaborate with other teams. Share knowledge and expertise within our talented engineering and science community.
Ensure the implementation of a state-of-the-art software development methodology and cultivate best practices of software development.
WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF
5+ years of professional work experience with Data and Machine Learning pipelines and are an ML Ops expert.
Experience with responsibility for delivery of automated ML products that run routinely, 24/7.
Experience in building complete product experiences using supervised learning.
Strong programming skills in Python.
Proficient with state-of-the art software engineering practices.
Hands-on experience with relevant software technologies: Cloud infrastructure (ideally AWS & Kubernetes), relational database (Redshift). Experience with ETL, data warehouses or data lakes is a big plus (Airflow, DBT).
Experience with data analysis tools (e.g. Pandas, numpy, Plotly, Jupyter Notebooks, Databricks) is desirable.
Experience working closely with data scientists and machine learning engineers.
Strong advocacy for agile processes, operational excellence, and adherence to coding best practices.
