Summary
The candidate will deliver mechanical engineering
assurance services within the Corporate Engineering function, supporting
Project Delivery to achieve error-free designs, on-schedule execution, and
flawless project outcomes. This role ensures that all mechanical designs and
discipline deliverables for assigned projects comply with applicable codes,
standards, and industry best practices, with a strong emphasis on safety and
reliability. Additionally, the candidate will contribute to engineering studies
aimed at solving business challenges and actively support the identification,
evaluation, and development of new technologies and initiatives that drive
continuous improvement across the organization.
Duties
& Responsibilities
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
1) Carry
out mechanical design reviews on in-house & third party design packages
including, FEED, BDP, Detailed Design to ensure compliance of the deliverables
with provisions of the applicable Design standards and specifications as part
of the overall project quality assurance program.
2) Apply
relevant project and engineering procedures in line with design &
engineering requirements, to provide the initial mechanical engineering
discipline requirements and inputs into Project documents such as BfD, PES,
BDEP, DED, ITT etc, in close coordination with other technical disciplines to
ensure an integrated delivery.
3) Review
and advise on Engineering & Construction Technical Queries (ETQ & CTQ)
and mitigate actual and potential impacts on project philosophy and existing
design. Draft proposal for review & approval, on design changes and/or
other measures necessary, as requirements to demonstrate that identified
business risks are managed to As-Low-As-Reasonably-Practicable (ALARP) where
required, in line with company procedure for Deviation and Derogation.
4) Act as
technical expert on projects within the project organization and in the
capacity of a responsible technical authority, providing assurance input to
Project Conrols & Assurance Plan (PCAP) for mechanical control points as
well as integrated assurance input to other disciplines.
5) Guide
and support development of mechanical deliverables, review developed
deliverables in-line with selected Control Points requirements, ensuring
compliance with applicable codes & standards to meet the desired project
delivery & business objectives.
6) Provide
discipline assurance support during commissioning, pre-start-up reviews,
start-up and handover activities, acting as first-line contact for assurance
related calls/inputs, proactively addressing challenges and escalating issues
as necessary, to facilitate flawless delivery and seamless handover from
project to asset operations.
7) Carry
out assigned engineering study works as may be required for specific projects
and as part of Mechanical Asset lifecycle management and other business
improvement initiatives. Carryout basic design assessment, simulations, work
scope definition, Project Specifications, selection of standards &
requirements, necessary to enable the business take proper & timely
decision.
8) Identify
required change(s) and corresponding impact on existing system, as part of the
mechanical engineering studies and Management of Change (MOC) process. Propose
for review & approval, design changes where required, in line with company
MOC procedure.
9) Support
in identification of new technology initiatives to improve existing business
processes and systems, enhance business
competitiveness through proposals for cost optimization initiatives, while
maintaining the required engineering standards.

Education
B.Eng.
or B. Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized tertiary
institution.
Experience/Certifications
- Minimum of 8-12 years working experience in a
petrochemical plant, 5 years of which must have been spent in a senior
mechanical engineering position in rotating or static equipment on a LNG plant.
Ability to interface with Engineering, Assets, Operations, and Maintenance are
critical. Candidate with Shell TA-3 technical authority level will be an added
advantage.
- The candidate
shall be Registered engineer with COREN and Corporate Member of Nigerian
Society of Engineers (NSE).
- The candidate
should be Chartered
Mechanical Engineer C.Eng or equivalent certification; combined
with any of the following:
- API

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Conduct
pipe stress analysis with the use of Caesar II.
- Collect
and analyse vibration data and other equipment operating parameters. Report
abnormal equipment conditions.
- Surveillance/Condition
Based Monitoring for rotating equipment (Vibration/Oil Analysis/Oil
Level/Visual Monitoring.
- Validate
and/or carry out measurement of clearances on machinery during construction and
commissioning to establish fitness-for-purpose of equipment.
- Carry
out start-up checks on rotating and static equipment during commissioning to
avoid safety incident, failure or maloperation
