What You'll DoWe are looking for a Principal Geometry Tools Programmer with deep knowledge of modern geometry processing techniques. The ideal candidate will combine this specialist knowledge with strong coding abilities, be self-motivated and be able to design and implement new mesh-based geometry algorithms and engine features while collaborating with users. You will directly impact others' productivity by developing user-facing tools for one of the leading game engines used by developers worldwide.
In this role, you will- Read and implement cutting-edge geometry processing papers as Unreal Engine features
- Collaborate with our Machine Learning group to integrate ML/AI systems into our geometry tools
- Solve open-ended algorithmic problems by developing robust and practical solutions
- Design and implement tools, engine features and editor user interfaces for Unreal Engine 5
- Communicate directly with users and developers to gather requirements and design solutions
- Work independently to make and own implementation decisions
- Resolve bugs and workflow issues for our internal teams and licensees
- Excellent C++ skills
- Computer Science PhD or Master’s Degree with a focus on modern geometry processing or equivalent experience
- Strong knowledge of applied linear algebra and numerical methods
- Experience applying machine learning techniques is preferred but not required
- Experience writing tools that improve the user experience of the consumer in game development or similar field
- Experience developing in a large codebase; ideally, experience designing and implementing a tool from the ground up
- Experience developing in Unreal Engine is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to communicate fluently in English, both written and verbally
