Role Value Proposition:
MetLife Investments Management (MIM) Client Account and Sales Technology is seeking a hands-on Principal Full Stack Software Engineer to lead projects and initiatives on the MIM Account and Product Management team, responsible for building client data feeds as well as flexible and configurable reporting solutions to enhance Client Servicing capabilities. The ideal candidate will possess strong development and engineering capabilities, communication, and collaboration, with hands-on experience implementing Investments and Finance data domains by enabling continuous delivery techniques within cloud infrastructure. Provides technical expertise for product teams building and maintaining solutions using the Azure Cloud platform. Collaborates with the product line architect to review solution design and roadmap. Enables product delivery through hands-on development and collaboration with developers, analysts, and businesses to build fully vetted products that ensure new capabilities are implemented according to enterprise standards. Proven experience of wearing multiple hats and owning end-to-end. It's an exciting time to join the team that is at the center of client delivery!
Key Responsibilities:

  • Work across IT and serve as a trusted technical advisor to Client Services organization to plan and execute large, cross-functional initiatives including project definition, technical specification, task breakdown, delivery, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of client deliverables.
  • Devise and implement solutions that meet complex business needs tactically while designing for future enterprise solutions. Be able to implement solutions that utilize hybrids of PaaS, SaaS, cloud, and on-premise infrastructure.
  • Be able to comfortably execute in a dynamic environment where mission-critical priorities can require the need to reprioritize work from time to time.
  • Responsible for simple scalable designs, write high-quality code, perform code reviews of others work while also leading and developing junior team members.
  • Ensures consistency and maintainability of solutions by hardening designs for fault tolerance and ensuring standards and procedures are implemented.
  • Provide ongoing support for daily, monthly, and quarterly client deliverables.
  • Acts as a mentor for technical staff and may lead a matrixed team. Reviews work products from team and vendor consultants.
  • Collaborates with enterprise architecture and other development teams to ensure consistency and adoption of reference architectures across a multi-asset class platform inclusive of data, workflow, logical processes, hardware, tools, etc.
  • Design use cases, functional specifications, and prototypes.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:

  • 8+ years of experience
  • Hands-on software development with a strong technical understanding of designing and building enterprise-scale web-based applications both on-prem and in the Cloud.
  • API-driven solution stack, data processing; Azure API Management is desirable.
  • Hands-on Python, Java, JavaScript, React/Angular/Web Components, Databricks a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to establish strong relationships across teams to effectively deliver work across the enterprise.
  • Database skills, Object-oriented programming, design patterns, and development knowledge
  • Distributed front-end and/or back-end hands-on application development with .Net, SQL, and Rest APIs a must.
  • Experience driving DevSecOps adoption, preferably with MS Azure for native branch management and pipeline-based deployments.
  • Ability to build, deliver, and operate complex, cloud-based systems (Azure).
  • Responsible for prioritizing problems, incidents, and service requests and managing processes with the Product Owner.
  • Experience with Agile software development, continuous integration, and deployment (GitHub or Azure DevOps preferred)


Preferred

  • Experience with test-driven development and continuous testing.
  • Applied experience within a buy-side or sell-side asset manager.
  • Exposure to modern AI concepts such as generative AI, various models of machine learning, large language models, conversational AI (chatbot, etc.)
  • Background in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a similarly related field
