Location: Remote / Hybrid (Nepal-based candidates preferred)
Employment Type: Full-time
Application Deadline: September 20

Varicon is looking for a Principal Full-Stack Engineer to take technical ownership of our web and backend systems. This is a senior, hands-on engineering role for someone who can architect scalable systems, write high-quality production code, and mentor a team of engineers — while staying close to the codebase rather than moving fully into management.
What You'll DoArchitect, design, and build scalable full-stack web applications using Python/Django as the core backend framework
Own technical decisions across the stack — backend architecture, database design, API design, and frontend integration
Lead code reviews, set engineering standards, and drive best practices across the team
Mentor and guide mid-level and junior engineers, providing technical direction and growth support
Collaborate closely with product, design, and client-facing teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, scalability issues, and technical debt
Drive decisions on infrastructure, deployment, and system reliability
Stay hands-on — write, test, and ship code regularly rather than only reviewing others' work
Must-Haves
8+ years of full-stack engineering experience, including 3-6+ years with Django
Strong, demonstrable experience with Python and Django (Django ORM, Django REST Framework, admin, migrations)
Solid full-stack capability — comfortable across backend and frontend (JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and a modern frontend framework)
Proven experience architecting and scaling production systems
Strong database skills (SQL, query optimization, schema design)
Experience mentoring or leading other engineers
Strong communication skills — able to explain technical trade-offs to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders
Nice-to-Haves
Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
Experience with additional backend frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, Node.js)
Exposure to AI/ML integration within web applications
Experience working with international/distributed teams
8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3-6 years working specifically with Django in production environments. Demonstrated seniority in ownership, architecture, and mentoring is expected alongside years of experience — not years alone.
What Varicon OffersCompetitive, market-aligned compensation
A collaborative, engineering-first culture
Opportunity to shape technical direction at a growing company
Flexible/remote-friendly working arrangement
