Job Description

About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Head of Freedom from Violence. We are seeking a subject matter expert with strong technical knowledge of Gender Based Violence (GBV) risk factors, current policy and program responses. 

The primary focus of the role will involve (but not limited to):
• Utilising your expertise to demonstrate the root causes and effective responses to GBV, including evidence on the rates and types of perpetration and victimisation, effective prevention and response measures.
• Showcase the complexity and challenges associated with managing and supporting complex and diverse GBV programs.
• Initiate collaborative professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners including with influential Australian and global gender equality organisations. Decision makers across government, philanthropy, business and NGO service sectors.
• Support advocacy efforts aimed at creating coalitions of support and financial and policy investments from key players.

Qualifications

About You
The successful candidate will have an understanding of current political landscape, and policy practices and climate. Strong problem solving skills, and demonstrate a collaborative approach internally and externally, building synergistic stakeholder relationships.

• Proven and successful technical expertise and understanding on how to manage the development and implementation of research, policy and programs that reduce the incidence and impact of GBV, underpinned by a systems approach that focus on shifting unequal power relations between genders.
• Strong technical knowledge and understanding of emerging policy and program interventions, and laws related to violence. 
• Demonstrable experience of gender equity and developing programs, policies and/or initiatives that address GBV, including current policies and frameworks. 
• Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
• High level of commitment and proven ability to problem-solve complex social, economic and or environmental problems and influence change.
• Strong project or program management experience.
