Our client, a leading company in the consumer goods industry, is seeking an experienced Principal Firmware Engineer to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of firmware for cutting-edge consumer products. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and testing of firmware for consumer goods products.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and product management, to define and implement product requirements.
- Develop and maintain firmware architecture, ensuring scalability and performance.
- Perform code reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
- Debug and troubleshoot complex firmware issues.
- Implement and optimize low-power design techniques for battery-operated devices.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in firmware development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of relevant firmware development experience, with a focus on new product design and development.
- Strong experience in C and C++ programming languages.
- Proficient in developing firmware for embedded microcontrollers (ARM Cortex M0-M33).
- Experience with RTOS-based firmware development.
- Familiarity with security best practices, including cryptographic algorithms and secure boot protocols.
- Knowledge of low power design practices and experience with battery-operated consumer devices.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with serial communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated, team player with a strong desire to learn new skills and grow.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE) development.
- Familiarity with BuildKite or other continuous integration platforms.
- Previous experience in the consumer goods industry.
- Experience with PCB hardware bring-up and working closely with EE teams.
