Principal Engineer

As a Principal Engineer – Product Development, you will work on an exciting new part of our g2.0 offering providing best-of-class CRM functionality to our customers. You will drive and implement strategic initiatives across products and geographies, working closely with our product development teams across planning, architecture, technical approach, code and process. You will be expected to contribute to our architectural direction, technical strategy planning and make significant contributions to the product evolution and to the departmental and company objectives.

About the Role:

• Software development and design.
  • Leading software architecture, design and technical strategy across engineering teams. Working with other principal engineers and architects to shape the architecture of Gentrack, acting as a champion for the technical strategy internally and externally.
  • Producing and reviewing design and implementation, working with teams through influence to ensure documentation is high quality and standards are not only met but continuously improving.
  • Software development individual contribution for the largest and most complex problems on the team, from technical design to launch.
• Build and grow high performing teams.
  • Acting as a positive force by guiding, mentoring and coaching other team members and leading by example.
  • Continually improve the quality of the code, product and broader engineering system including tooling, processes, documentation and capability.
• Internal and external engagement.
  • As the most senior member of technical staff you will work closely with other functions to understand our strategy and the needs of our customers. You will contribute to strategy and roadmap development with the Product Management team and engage in customer conversations as required with Sales, Product Management and other stakeholders.
  • Providing organisation wide technical leadership to improve practices, processes and standards to increase quality, security, productivity and developer experience.

  • As a technical leader you will stay connected to shifts in the technical landscape, conducting assessments and proof of concepts to guide adoption and innovation internally. Your network in the industry will lead to further success for Gentrack product development.

What We’re Looking For:

• Expert level experience with one or more prominent programming languages (C#, Typescript, C/C++) is crucial
• A desire to learn and/or expand your knowledge of the Salesforce platform
• Proven experience designing, architecting and building Enterprise-scale SaaS products
• A gardener in mind - knows how to seed, grow and nurture - people and code. You have an appetite for helping others learn
• A passion for engineering excellence and the ability to drive engineering improvements
• Pragmatic approach to building the right things the right way, with focus on quality execution
• Deep expertise in at least one technical area, complemented by broad technical knowledge

• Understanding of the energy industry, including key companies
• Experience with large-scale CRM Systems, such as Salesforce
