MTS Core Principal Engineer

Join our dynamic MTS team as a Principal Engineer - being in charge of the design, development, and optimization of our cutting-edge Risk Management System for sports betting. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a mission-critical system that validates betting tickets in near real-time, ensuring the integrity of millions of transactions across 300 brands, 170 bookmakers, and 40+ countries, with a user base exceeding 3.5 million.

We pride ourselves on being at the forefront of innovation in the sports betting industry. Our team, comprising over 100 talented individuals, is dedicated to developing SaaS solutions using a test-driven approach. Leveraging the power of AWS, we have created a scalable and robust infrastructure that enables us to process up to 1500 transactions per second. Our system continuously updates the state of betting markets up to an impressive 2000 times per second, providing a dynamic and responsive platform for our users.
As a Principal Engineer you will be participating in a team (squad) of engineers, deliver new value to our customers.
- The MTS Core team is in charge of:
- Developing new features.
- Maintaining and improving performance of existing system.
- Investigating various technologies and their applicability to the problems we are sailing towards.
- Collaborating with product owners in fitting new features onto current architecture.
- Advocating technical improvements across the team, the tribe and company.
- Helping and mentoring engineers in the squad.
- Preparing and sharing presentations and/or technical documentation.
- As a Principal Engineer you:
- Have 7+ years of experience in the engineering field (preferably focused on JVM languages, but other "modern" languages are also ok).
- Have great passion for technologies (old and new).
- Are proactive and are able to detect challenges in advance.
- Are a creative thinker, not afraid to think out of the box.
- Are willing to learn new technologies.
- Should be optimistic, yet grounded, with a can-do attitude.
- Have experience with software engineering best practices (TDD, Contract testing, Continuous Integration & Continuous Delivery, SOLID, ... bonus for Continuous Deployment).
- Have experience with distributed systems that are fault tolerant.
- Have experience with k8s.
- Strive to have repetitive tasks automated.
- Have a good team spirit.
- As a Principal Engineer, it would be nice that you:
- Have experience with Contract (pact) testing.
- Have experience with Agile.
- Have experience with AWS cloud services (Kafka/MSK, DocumentDB, DynamoDB, Aurora, Elasticache, ElasticSearch, Lambda, API GW).
- Have experience with Terraform, Helm, Gitlab CI/CD and/or other similar automation/provisioning tools.
