THE ROLE

Principal Engineer - Fullstack Engineering

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE 

The ideal candidate is someone with a high degree of passion for highly scalable user facing systems and comes with a good understanding of how various client interfaces work. They’re self-starter, problem-solver and successful in combining technology and data into best-in-class  outcomes.  The  candidate  is  energized  by  solving  complex  business  problems  and consistently effective in making high-judgment decisions at a rapid pace amidst the frequent ambiguity that comes with charting a course of action with no precedent. Moreover, the ideal candidate is energized by  an  environment where strategy, innovation and decision-making are intentionally distributed, where candour, speed and data are highly valued and colleagues at all levels hold each other to unusually high standards on behalf of Quince customers.

Roles & Responsibilities  

• You’ll lead the brand new layout engine development team and work closely with the product, design and cross org technology teams to deliver high-quality, user-centric products on the consumer-facing apps. 
• You’re expected to mentor and train the senior members to ensure they have the skills and knowledge they need to succeed 
• Collaborate with all consumer apps teams to understand and implement business requirements 
• Build  workflows to streamline the business operations, and work on providing the best user experience and constantly improving the same.
• Ensure the team delivers high-availability backend across platforms that are maintainable and scale to millions of users per day.
• Drive a code review culture and contribute  to  the  development  of architecture  and design, and help to identify and resolve performance issues 
• Drive performance optimizations in your product with your teams.
• Drive alignment with leadership and team members along with your management counterparts.

Experience Required 

You have excellent computer science fundamentals

• You have been working on backend web technologies for 10+ years
• You have at least 6+ years of experience working in Java, Spring/Spring Boot, SQL/NOSQL
• You have at least 4+ years of experience working in javascript, react, Android, iOS.
• You have experience building and maintaining highly reliable distributed web applications that operate at a high scale.
• You have a good understanding of concurrency and multithreading
• You have knowledge of design principles, the fundamentals of architecture, quality processes, and estimation techniques.
• You are an advocate for maintaining the highest standards in terms of code quality, latency, and observability.
• You understand the hustle of a startup and are good at handling ambiguity
• You can effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• You are a curious, quick learner, scrappy, and someone who loves to experiment
