Job Description:

Showcase your coding expertise as a Software Principal Engineer in Microchip’s Secure Computing Group developing systems and services to establish an end-product Root of Trust. As a team member, you will help develop internal software systems used in Microchip manufacturing facilities throughout the world.

Job responsibilities will focus on a quickly growing C++ client/server application with database backend for handling secure data. As part of a small team, there is opportunity to apply and develop skills across the entire development lifecycle, including:

  • Coding new features and tests that balance performance with maintainability and future use-cases.

  • Developing and improving the system’s testing infrastructure. From small unit tests to complex end-to-end integration tests.

  • Performing code reviews, collaboration, and mentorship for other team members.

  • Updating and creating new documentation for multiple audiences. From users of our client API to backend developers.

  • Working on scripts and processes while supporting users and developers of the software with inquiries, to maintain use of the system.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline

  • BS with 10+, or MS with 7+, years of software engineering experience

  • Majority C++ Windows applications, some Linux

  • Experience designing and maintaining complex software systems

  • Scripting experience working with Python

  • Experience with software development tools:

  • - Integrated Development Environments and Debugging (Visual Studio)
  • - Build systems and tools (cmake, make, MSVC)
  • - Version control software (Git)
  • - Issue and bug tracking process (Jira)
  • - CI and testing tools (Jenkins)
  • - Documentation tools (Doxygen, Confluence)
  • Understanding of Agile software development methodology

Desired Skills

  • Client/Server architectures

  • - Authentication schemes, load balancing and redundancy
  • Understanding of security/cryptographic concepts

  • - Symmetric (AES) and asymmetric (ECC and RSA) cryptosystems
  • - Cryptographic hashing, encryption, and signature schemes
  •  Experience with database usage and development including:

  • - Schema definition, Stored procedures, Database synchronization
  • - Relational databases: PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and Oracle

Benefits of working at Microchip

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in Colorado, is $70,000 - $163,000.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
