At Eni, we are seeking a Principal Offshore Structures Engineer to join EniProgetti UK in Basingstoke. You will be responsible for leading the offshore structural engineering team, overseeing the execution of structural design and analysis activities, and providing technical guidance to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery.

EniProgetti UK operates a SmartWorking policy allowing personnel to work for up to 12 working days/month from home or a similar secure location and these 12 days can be available even where personnel are on leave for a portion of the month. As such, typically around 60% of time working remotely is available for individuals who wish to take advantage of this.

Main responsibilities

• Establish internal workflows for assigned projects and plan team activities to ensure efficient project execution.
• Perform structural analysis for offshore substructures and topsides.
• Evaluate and define the optimal technical solutions for offshore structures, including substructures and topsides, across all project phases, from feasibility and FEED to detailed design.
• Review and approve structural analyses, calculations, and technical documentation produced by the team prior to issue.
  Prepare sketch drawings, concept studies, and feasibility assessments.
• Foster effective collaboration within the structural engineering team and across multidisciplinary project teams.
  Interface with other engineering disciplines to ensure coordinated project execution.
• Collaborate with planners and project management teams to allocate offshore structural engineering resources, manage workloads, and deliver project objectives on schedule.

Skills and experience required

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Offshore Engineering, Structural Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering (with a focus on structures), or a related discipline.
• Demonstrable experience in offshore structural design across all project phases, including feasibility studies, FEED, detailed engineering, and operations.
• Extensive experience in the analysis and design of offshore structures in accordance with the ISO 19900 series, API RP 2A, and AISC codes.
• Ability to develop and verify FEM models of fixed offshore structures, including jackets and topsides, for both in-place and temporary conditions.
• Experience in the design of foundation systems, including piles and mud mats.
• Experience in the assessment, redesign, and life extension of brownfield assets, including reliability analyses and complex engineering problem-solving.
• Experience in non-linear structural analysis, including blast, dropped object, impact, redundancy, and pushover analyses.
• Ability to evaluate complex engineering challenges and provide independent technical recommendations.
• Sound knowledge of offshore structural materials, fabrication methods, and installation practices.
• Experience in the design and analysis of floating offshore structures.
• Experience in the preparation and management of tender documentation, including the technical evaluation of contractor proposals.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor structural engineering teams across multiple projects or work packages.
• Ability to coach and develop junior structural engineers.
• Experience working collaboratively with other engineering discipline leads throughout project execution.
• Ability to plan resources, manage workloads, and deliver engineering scope in line with project schedules.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to project management and other stakeholders.
• Willingness to undertake both short- and long-term international travel.
• Proficiency in structural engineering software such as DNV Sesam, USFOS, ANSYS, and SACS.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Windows operating systems, and related engineering software.
