Job Description

This role will be responsible for mechanical engineering system design HVAC, Fire, Plumbing, Drainage and including the development of all related equipment and specifications and handling of procurement processes. May also support the installation, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems. This role includes expertise in all engineering calculation required for these above systems.

Transportation infrastructure like LRT, MRT, Metro and Buildings and Hospitals experience preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Effectively design and verify the TVS for Rail, Road and Metro Tunnels
  2. Should be able to deal with the client directly and effectively respond to all the technical queries.
  3. Provide technical expertise for the mid to large size projects wherever needed.
  4. Prepare engineering calculations, design drawings and specifications of mechanical ventilation systems for tunnels in a diverse range of projects.
  5. Ensure accuracy of design to employers’ Requirements documentation.
  6. Prepare Technical reports, Calculations, Drawings, equipment selections and specifications, heating and cooling load calculations, pressure loss calculations, Attenuator sizing calculations.
  7. Provide guidance for space planning of mechanical system, shaft requirements as per design scheme, in coordination with all other disciplines involved in the design.
  8. Equipment selection in coordination with the vendor that aligns with the design intent.
  9. Design optimization/ Value engineering to provide the most efficient solution.
  10. Attend and manage Internal & external project / design audits.
  11. Identify risks and develop appropriate risk mitigation plan.
  12. Collects and organizes fundamental engineering data following established procedures.
  13. Engages in routine engineering tasks involving calculations and basic testing.
  14. Proposes solutions for new issues that arise.
  15. Identifies and addresses discrepancies in results.
  16. Provides guidance to entry-level engineers.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required for this opportunity
  2. Registered with Board of Engineer (BEM)
  3. A minimum of 8 to12 years of experience design engineering in Metro, MRT/LRT, Rail/Road tunnel, Buildings, Hospitals etc.
  4. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  5. Ability to perform complex calculations and conduct engineering tests
  6. Experience in gathering and correlating engineering data
  7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  8. Capability to work independently and manage multiple projects efficiently
  9. Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards
  10. Demonstrated ability to innovate and think creatively in engineering solutions 
  11. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  12. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies
  13. Works within agreed-upon budget and schedule, with moderate supervisions

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Registered with Board of Engineer (BEM)
  • 8 to 12 years of mechanical design engineering experience (Metro, MRT/LRT, rail/road tunnel, buildings, hospitals)
